California's 11th congressional district is located in Northern California, encompassing parts of San Joaquin, Alameda, Contra Costa, and Santa Clara counties. The district is currently represented by Democrat Jerry McNerney, who defeated Republican incumbent Richard Pombo in the 2006 election.

George W. Bush received 54% of the vote in this district in 2004; John Kerry received 45%.[1] The district voted for Arnold Schwarzenegger 65-31% in 2006,[2] Dianne Feinstein 55-40% in 2006,[3] Barbara Boxer 50-47% in 2004,[4] recalling Gray Davis 61-39%[5] and Schwarzenegger 52-24%[6] in 2003, and Bill Simon 51-41% in 2002.[7]
