California's 34th congressional district covers part of Los Angeles County and is California's most heavily Hispanic district. Its current representative is Democrat Lucille Roybal-Allard. Rep. Roybal Allard is running against Republican challenger Christopher Balding in the 2008 election.

John Kerry received 69% of the vote in this district in 2004; George W. Bush received 30%.[1] The district voted for Phil Angelides 63-32% in 2006,[2] Dianne Feinstein 74-21% in 2006,[3] Barbara Boxer 74-21% in 2004,[4] keeping Gray Davis 57-43%[5] and Cruz Bustamante 53-33%[6] in 2003, and Davis 63-27% in 2002.[7]
