California's 24th congressional district covers most of Ventura and inland Santa Barbara counties. The current Representative for this district is Republican Elton Gallegly. 2008 election challengers for this seat include Mary Pallant, Michael Tenenbaum, and Jill Martinez.

George W. Bush received 56% of the vote in this district in 2004; John Kerry received 43%.[1] The district voted for Arnold Schwarzenegger 66-30% in 2006,[2] Dianne Feinstein 48-46% in 2006,[3] Bill Jones 48-47% in 2004,[4] recalling Gray Davis 67-33%[5] and for Schwarzenegger 55-20%[6] in 2003, and Bill Simon 52-39% in 2002.[7]
