San Pietro al Natisone (Slovene: Špeter Slovenov, in the local dialect: Špietar) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Udine in the Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 60 km northwest of Trieste and about 20 km northeast of Udine. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,212 and an area of 24.1 km².[1] According to the census 1971 87.8% of the population are Slovenians.
Until 1878, its official name was San Pietro degli Slavi, that is "Saint Peter of the Slavs".
San Pietro al Natisone borders the following municipalities: Cividale del Friuli, Prepotto, Pulfero, San Leonardo, Savogna di Cividale, Torreano.
