Montenars (Slovenian Gorjani) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Udine in the Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 80 km northwest of Trieste and about 20 km north of Udine. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 554 and an area of 20.6 km².[1] According to the census 1971 23,2% of the population are Slovenians.
Montenars borders the following municipalities: Artegna, Gemona del Friuli, Lusevera, Magnano in Riviera, Tarcento.
