Gais (Italian: Gais; German: Gais) is a comune (municipality) in the province of Bolzano-Bozen in the Italian region Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, located about 110 km northeast of the city of Trento and about 60 km northeast of the city of Bolzano. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,985 and an area of 60.3 km².[1]
The municipality of Gais contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Lana di Gais, Riomolino, Montassilone, and Villa Ottone.
Gais borders the following municipalities: Bruneck (Brunico), Sand in Taufers (Campo Tures), Pfalzen (Falzes), Percha (Perca), and Mühlwald (Selva dei Molini).
