[edit] History

"The Fan" was started in 2005 with its sister station WAYS and WIFN swapping frequencies. It used to be "Big Ways 105" (airing an Oldies format), then it moved to the AM dial on 1500 kHz; thus, it's now "Oldies 1500 WAYS". During the switch, WIFN moved their broadcasts from 1500 kHz to 105.5 MHz.

[edit] Programming

The Fan is Middle Georgia's only 24 hour, 7 day a week all-sports radio station. It is an ESPN Radio affiliate. The station is an affiliate of the Atlanta Braves radio network, the largest radio affiliate network in Major League Baseball.[1]

The signature local program on The Fan is 'The Bill Shanks Show' from 4-6 pm ET every weekday. Shanks takes phone calls and has guests to talk local and state sports. He's joined by producer Russ Brown and occasionally by Skip Seda.
