[edit] About Me

I am originally from Huntsville, Alabama. I currently live in Allen, Texas. I'm also a member of the Alabama WikiProject and WikiProject Texas. I collect books, autographs, science fiction convention memorabilia, and Texiana. My literary tastes run to science fiction, mysteries, satire, and space science.

I am a former washed-up disc jockey who worked at radio stations that no longer exist. I broadcast under my own name as well as the airnames Scott Montgomery (my idea) and Skip Church (not my idea). Yes, "Skip" had the Sunday morning shift before the syndicated countdown show. Surprisingly, the station received no complaints.

"Don't believe anyone. Don't read your mail. Make light of every word you hear. Turn off your radio. Quit your job. Do something different. Disappear." —Brave Combo

For the record, I am not now nor have I ever been a major league baseball player in California, a minor league hockey player in New Hampshire, an American history teacher in Alabama, or the Slovak ambassador to Bulgaria. What I'm getting at is that there are more Draveckys in the world that you realize and I'm probably not the one you're thinking of.

[edit] My Wikipedia habits

I'm happy to have been recognized for my contributions to Wikipedia. If you're interested, you can look at my Wikipedia awards collection.

I enjoy creating, updating, and expanding pages about radio stations, science fiction conventions, the U.S. space program, articles related to the Apollo 1 astronauts, and other items that pique my interest. A former proofreader and technical writer, I also try to correct minor flaws when I encounter them to give Wikipedia a more professional polish. I do my best to keep the "Living persons" category[1] empty. I feel strongly about adding defaultsort tags where needed to allow lists to be properly alphabetized.

[edit] My work in progress on Wikipedia

I've declared a personal Project Visine to "get the red out" of the lists of radio stations in the United States.

48 states now have unique stub categories for their radio station articles but Delaware, Rhode Island, and Washington DC can't reach speedy status as they are complete but should they get their own stub categories for consistency? Must ponder and discuss.

Here's the template I use for AM radio stations in the United States: User:Dravecky/AMradio

[edit] My to-do list on Wikipedia

I've got a treasure trove of mid-1990s radio station logos, somewhere, and need to upload them for historical context. Some neglected articles about science fiction fandom, especially in Texas, should get some attention as well. Detailed WikiProject Radio Stations tasks like sorting, creating, and categorizing continue. There's still plenty more WP Alabama work to do, too.

[edit] My long-term plans on Wikipedia

I've been enjoying Mission: Impossible reruns on cable the past couple of months and was shocked to see how badly these articles have been neglected. I've updated the infoboxes for the main cast of the original show but there's a lot more work to do for this classic series.

The template (now a navbox) for NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center and related articles has been well received so next will be one for the Johnson Space Center and then on to the Kennedy Space Center and other facilities. (There's been a polite request for Dryden so I'll likely bump that up the line a bit.) I plan to continue mining the NASA archives for useful official portraits and other images.

I welcome all to join me in bringing these articles up to Wikipedia standards.
