[edit] Programming

Notable personalities on WHRP include local weekday hosts Toni Terrell on mid-days[2], Mark Raymond on afternoons, and Ghost on late nights. Notable syndicated hosts include Tom Joyner of The Tom Joyner Morning Show and Keith Sweat of The Keith Sweat Hotel.[3]

Notable former on-air personnel include Nia Noelle[4] and Ronnie Rio[5].

[edit] History

The Federal Communications Commission assigned WDJU as call letters for this station on March 14, 1995. These would be short-lived as the station switched to WXQW on November 10, 1995. On December 21, 2007, WXQW switched to the WHRP call letters[6] of its sister station and the former WHRP was assigned WWFF-FM.[7]

Several other unrelated stations have held the WHRP call letters over the years, including the current WQKR (1270 AM, Portland, Tennessee) and WPMH (670 AM, Claremont, Virginia).[8]

[edit] Ownership

In December 2005, Cumulus Media purchased this station (then known as WXQW) and sister station WWXQ (now WVNN-FM) from Clear Channel Communications for a reported $3.3 million.[9]
