Santena (pron. sàntena; in Piedmontese Santna) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Turin in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 15 km southeast of Turin on the right bank of the Po. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 10,313 and an area of 16.2 km².[1]
The municipality of Santena contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Tetti Busso, Tetti Giro, Luserna, and Gamenario; the last of these is known for the Battle of Gamenario, fought on 22 April 1345 between the Guelfs and Ghibellines.
Santena borders the following municipalities: Chieri, Cambiano, Trofarello, Poirino, and Villastellone.
