Welcome to the assessment department of the WikiProject New Orleans! This department focuses on assessing the quality of Wikipedia's New Orleans articles. While much of the work is done in conjunction with the WP:1.0 program, the article ratings are also used within the project itself to aid in recognizing excellent contributions and identifying topics in need of further work.

The ratings are done in a distributed fashion through parameters in the {{WikiProject New Orleans}} project banner; this causes the articles to be placed in the appropriate sub-categories of Category:New Orleans articles by quality, Category:New Orleans articles by importance, Category:New Orleans articles needing attention, Category:New Orleans past collaborations, and Category:New Orleans past selected articles. The quality and importance ratings serve as the foundation for an automatically generated worklist. There is also Category:Non-article New Orleans pages) for things like redirect pages, templates, categories, images, etc.
