"I Will Protect You" is a song by Korn off their 2007 untitled album. It is possibly the most progressive song off the album[1], as it switches styles and tempos frequently. For the first 11 seconds, Jonathan Davis' bagpipes can be heard, this time with an electronic tinge. The main chorus is radio-friendly and melodic, like most of the other songs on the album, with ambient-sounding music in the background. There are two moments in the song, however, where the tempo slows down, Fieldy's bass turns chanky instead of merely supportive, and Munky's guitar is detuned, a harking back to Korn's early days. The song ends with Davis whispering the name of the song until fadeout. For the regular edition of the album, "I Will Protect You" is the closer, but for the extended version, the following track "Sing Sorrow" is the last song.[2]
Notably, toward the middle of the song, the tempo begins to pick up and Terry Bozzio plays a complex drum solo. Fieldy commented on the solo by simply saying ,"He's like Animal, from the Muppets."[3]
