Hi Cobaltbluetony. I've noticed since you past your RfA there's been a few instances of problematic use of your tools. Nothing has been too bad, but when you look at them all, there does seem to be a little problem here. Would you consider having an experienced admin mentor you for 6/8 weeks so he can help you out wherever possible and point out areas for you to improve? I saw the notice on about the speedy deletion of this page on user Deviathan's talk page. I didn't see this article, but I have seen some of Deviathan's work, and it seems at the very least well intentioned and well informed (if perhaps tending towards OR). Hali II seems to be a historical ruler of the Maldives - see List of Sultans of the Maldives. Doesn't that give him some minimal claim to notability? Brianyoumans (talk) 08:52, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

The deletion of my article entitled: '"Sister Ruth" Dixon' seemed improper because it had both a historic value regarding the radio history of Southern California. It was intended as a mini bioraphical spur to explain to the readers of the article entitled "KSSE" WHO the historic celebrity in question was. To declare such info to not be noteworthy is like saying the same thing about an explanation of the contributions of Mr Rogers or Jim Henson to PBS TV or the contributions of Lucille Ball to the art and trade of Situation-Comedy TV.

The least you could have done was ask me why I believed this to be a noteworthy contribution. You didn't even ask. You incorrectly assumed it was not noteworthy and it appears to be based on your own personal lack of interest in the info. But those who have more appreciation for the subject of famous historic personalities in Black Gosepl Music Radio would and hereby do disagree with your decision and do now request that you please revert said deletion.

Hi,

I have never heard of sock puppetry and wiki's definition before now. The name may prima facie seem to prompt thinking that way, but the username choice was more one of habit. Habit and not wanting to spend lengthy periods guessing at a suitable name that wasn't already taken. I'd happily contribute under any suggested acceptable name.

The reference to Merge magazine is a result of interest, and the publications educational value.

Hi, I'm a student at Syracuse University and I have worked with Mr. Balcourt before and noticed you deleted his page. He is a noted composer in Central New York, and has already been written about nationally by Broadway Beat, Playbill, The Syracuse Post Standard, and is found on countless websites due to his off-Broadway show Idol: the musical this past summer (2007). I would like his page to be reposted since there are other similar pages on composers his age who are trying to establish a name for themselves as well (i.e. Brian Lowdermilk, Kait Kerrigan have wikipedia pages that had similar information to Mr. Balcourt's page).Theatrgirl (talk) 15:43, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Here's a couple things to look at. Do any of these help the notability? Playbill.com article, Raleigh Chronicle review, review of a song-cycle, song performed at a Playbill advertised event, review of Untitled, different review of Untitled. If you need more I can get them, but I didn't want to flood you with links. Please don't delete it yet if I still need more sources. I can do more research to provide them if necessary. Hi - I'm not too sure about your move of Guyanas to Guyana (disambiguation). As you can see from the disambiguation page, "Guyana" spelled with a y really only refers to Guyana, formerly British Guiana (with an i). The others are former Dutch Guiana, Brazilian Guiana, French Guiana or "Guyane" and the Venezuelan area of "Guayana", with an extra a. I would suggest that the disambiguation page should be Guiana (disambiguation), as it is the form with the "i" which has multiple uses, the form with "Guy" only refers to Guyana. What do you think? As the internet was beginning its real growth as a commercial application, many sites opened up to sell stuff. Crutchfield was the first company to start up its own site, as opposed to hiring a firm to do it for them, or just offering its line to another vendor to sell. Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.

If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. I am writing to request the reinstitution of a recently deleted Wikipedia entry for the author and educator Erik D. Harshman. I feel this page was wrongfully deleted before under the pretext of "insignificant". I believe my rebuttal to this entry's deletion was sufficient in proving its worth and significance. However, it seems that the talk page, regarding this entry, has been deleted completely and the entry itself has been locked, allowing only administrators access. I am requesting that either: a.) a thorough and comprehensive explanation be provided in regards to this article's deletion or b.) Reinstatement of the article as it was originally posted.

Anon editors are not de facto vandals. Also, there was tons of legitimate content lost; next time try reverting to a a better version. It doesn't need to be perfect; don't lose all that useful and referenced content because it may have issues. I've restored a good version and tagged it for the issues I saw. Sometimes it's better to stubfy the article and start all over from sketch. One can always check the history to get valid information one-by-one and add it alongside valid sources. I believe it's better than publishing an article with passages like "with the intention to provide guests with a clean, comfortable room at an affordable price"... Unless its original research, it must have come from somewhere. The info doesn't seem harmful, so it's better to search, or ask the creator/editor of the info, instead of just deleting it. If we can't source it or find similar sources saying a similar thing, we should then delete it. Hi,

I noticed you deleted this article. The reason it was created, is that lots of other Wikipedia articles reference the awards, especially in regard to a persons achievments. I thought it would be useful for the articles mentioning that someone has won a Magic Woods Award to link to an article describing what the awards are - in a similer fashion that a movie stars page links to 'The Oscars' when mentioning that a movie star has won that. The author has published dozens of stories in the Tamil language in magazines with readership in the hundreds of thousands. Hi, I was in the process of removing the speedy delete tag from the article on Jacob Shatzky and replacing it with a stub tag or deletion discussion. I don't believe the article should have been tagged with speedy delete since it was just created today and looked like it was in the process of having a citation added. Jacob Shatzky is a well known author (apparently) and is referenced by other Wikipedia articles. I do agree that it should have been proposed for deletion pending further editing. I'm confused as to why a page clearly under construction—and including numerous sources in the process—would warrant immediate deletion from an administrator without warning. As an article focusing solely on the history of a burgeoning independent film studio, I must reject the notion of "blatant advertising". The studio and films profiled are represented on [2]IMDB.com, and the article does not and would not purport to advertise products or services. In preparing the article, I am following models used by established film studios here on Wikipedia, such as [3] Lions Gate Entertainment—which I also view as completely biographical in nature, as opposed to advertising.

I would greatly appreciate your reconsideration, and any help in allowing me to continue preparing the article within Wikipedia's guidelines. Thanks!

[edit] Deleting incorrect links appears to have deleted linked articles

I moved the "INS Betwa (F37)" and "INS Beas (F39)" articles because the articles were incorrectly named and then requested that the old articles, which were now links, be deleted. After you deleted the links, the new articles "INS Betwa (F39)" and "INS Beas (F37)" seem to have disappeared. It looks like you recently reviewed my speedy delete nomination of Eric "Ric" Dalby. You wrote in your edit history that the Roman Harris nomination didn't include Ric Dalby. This is not the nomination in which the article was deleted. The recreated material i was refering to was based on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ric Dalby (second nomination). I don't think you knew this, so i thougt i would clarify just incase this would alter your decision. Excuse me but why did you delete the page for Robert Fagan? He was not the most acclaimed artist (depite his portraits at the National Gallery of Ireland and exhibitions with the Royal Academy, but he was a significant archaeologist/diplomat who made some important discoveries. (see:Capitoline Venus) I believe you should stick to your field of expertise and consult me before deleting such entries. Sorry If I'm perceived as upset or aggravated, but I believe such sentiment is justified. I would greatly appreciate it if you reinstated his entry, for wikipedia's sake. Thank you.

I do not know who to consult about this, so I'm graciously asking you. The user Cobaltbluetony deleted a page on Robert Fagan I had created, with had multiple online and offline sources. He cited A7 as reason for deletion, despite the article clearly stating Fagan's significance as an archaeologist (discovery of the Venus at the Capitoline), diplomat and painter[4]. I highly question his judgment and believe the article should be restored. I should have at least been notified for an AFD, if he is a moderator then it surely reflects poorly on wikipedia. If you are unaware of how to confront this issue, is there someone else I can refer this problem to? Thank you. Well under contract law in America you should be able to but as im not an American Lawyer I dont actually know the precise details of what can and cant be done. I will pass it on to my friend who is a lawyer and specialises in American Law who should be able to advise you on your problem. As far as I am aware you should be able to sue the trucking company for the damages that have been caused to your car. You should also be able to also sue the trucking comapny aslong as you have recors of what you have paid on the loan then the trucking company should be liable. Dear Cobaltbluetony, You have delete the page I created AtGentive Project with the reason "copyright infrigement".

Following the Wikipedia procedure, I indicated very explicitly that there could not be any copyright infrigement, since I was the original author of this content. Beside, the content of this page was just a summary of the project (using Wikipedia to host content would not be approapriate), and therefore I do not believe that any copyright infrigement apply.

Can you please provide my with a more appropriate reason for this deletion (that happened in a couple of hours, although I had provided an answer) or advise me what ammandment should be done to have this page put again on Wikipedia. Note: This description is extremely similar to other pages that exists in Wikipedia and that describes STReP projects.

Phalanxman - there are already some excellent links placed on your own talk page that would be a good starting point. You might also trying to create content on your own page, or on a sub page, and then ask others to review it. You could try putting the {{helpme}} template on your page which will attract someone who could answer specific questions. As for the article which was deleted, I have no idea other than the reason Jamie gave, but if you create the page in a space that it won't be immediately deleted, you can work on it before putting it in the main article space. Greetings...

I recently created an entry for the website above, thinking it was significant enough for an entry. However, in the description I didn't want to document the traffic as it might sound like bragging. However, the annual website traffic currently is at 15-plus million page views (Google Analytics, Webtrends), growing at a 25+% rate, and is linked to by over 20,000 websites, most at educational institutions (Google search on "Study Guides and Strategies"). The links do not include those in other languages, significantly Spanish, Vietnamese, Arabic, Chinese. The Vietnamese version is being published in print and all proceeds go to Vietnamese students rather than to myself who created it. Similar ventures are underway in other languages. I added the entry when I saw that two commercial resources Sparknotes and Cliffsnotes have Wikipedia entries, and thought that this itself was reason enough to add a not-for-profit resource. The Study Guides website was started in 1996, Sparknotes in 1999. So: I thought there should be a non-commercial example given in the Study Guides entry, which led to creating the page on the website. Hello.... Still trying to follow up on the speedy deletion. My quandary is that two commercial websites, i.e. Sparknotes and Cliffnotes, which are more suspect in terms of their academic validity, are featured in Wikipedia, yet mine which has existed before both, is not-for-profit, and has traffic exceeding the two, is marked by you for deletion. My website is published, even though in Vietnam, is peer-reviewed, featured in over 20,000 websites (try a google search on "Study Guides and Strategies", is ranked 7 of 10 by Google, #1 by MSN, and yet you do not find it "worthy" of an entry.   • An Alexa page ranking can easily be manipulated by anyone and should not be used as a guide for comparison in anything. Vegas.com is owned by a major multi-media corporation. They are a major cable provider, they own broadcast tv stations and newspapers throughout the country. Many of the references listed on their page are from their own sister companies. That said, it appears that preference is being given to this large company.The references listed in my article are absolutely verifiable. I can not imagine why you would think otherwise except perhaps that you assume the references are not verifiable without making any attempt to verify them. My article WAS rewritten after it was suggested that it should have a major re-write. I understand you have a lot going on but you are convoluting the issues in this situation as a result of not taking the time to actually sift through all of this.My article is not spam. Vegas.com is, in my opinion, marginal. If you wish to nominate it for deletion, simply file an AfD request. I am going to have to say the same thing for this one too, I generally SALT after 4 recreations, or if the material is an attack page or violates BLP. You unblock it, just like any other block. The hard part is finding the autoblock, because they aren't blocks against usernames. They show up in Special:Ipblocklist but they are anonymized, so you have to either be told which specific autoblock to look for, or you have to know something else about it. (In this case, I knew the user was caught in an autoblock placed on his own account, which made it possible to search the log directly). Normally, you can just follow the links you see when a user posts {{unblock-auto}} to find and remove the autoblock. Mangojuicetalk 20:33, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

Just to let you know, I've restored this article: the writing may not have been the best, but as one of the core faculties with international connections at UNAM (one of the largest universities in the world and a leading institution in Latin America) it has IMO the presumption of notability. There are already a few articles on UNAM faculties and research institutions, & I'm sure it would only take a couple more cites to back up any claims. Thanks for giving me a warning over my edit to this page. According to NPOV policy a fact is a statement about which there is no serious dispute. This page is, by its nature, about statements which are not widely disputed but should be! I think my comment on wikipedia fits in pretty well. Do you disagree that wikipedia does move towards undisputed truth (and agree with me), or disagree that many people think so? Either way, it is hardly worth the warning! Hi Cobaltbluetony - I noticed that you have reverted an edit made by another editor to remove some trivial information from the above article that just happens to be on my watchlist. It's my thinking that the edit you reverted is more of a content dispute than vandalism; in fact, I'd been considering taking that section to the talk page of the article to see if some discussion could be generated on whether or not the article should include mentions of uses of the song in other media. (Yes, I know, the best intentions but no time to actually do it.) Just as a suggestion - perhaps in future you might want to think about whether a vandalism-style revert is appropriate in these circumstances. I'm not going to follow you around or jump up and down about this, it's just that I've run into a fair number of incidents where content decisions by new or inexperienced users are being treated as if they were vandalism, and it doesn't really help them to acclimatise themselves to our expectations. I responded to you on my talk page and have since added a fourth citation from a third author/source (there were only three articles from two authors/sources when you made your initial note (which made it clear that you only saw the stub when it had two articles from the same author)).

Thank you for trying to improve the article. I hope that you will consider making constructive edits and discuss the article on the talk page in the future (in addition to continue your use of cleanup tags that you feel appropriate).

If you see what you think are a lot of issues with a stub such as that on in the future, you might strongly consider using the {{articleissues}} template and discussing points on the talk page. That would probably have been especially helpful in this case, where I stated on the talk page why I thought WP:N was properly addressed and why I removed the tag, but you still wanted to see more independent sources. If one relatively minor edit can address three tags, that take up nearly as much space as the content of a stub, I don't think that having separate tags is helpful in anyway.

Hi there! I'm wondering why you decided to speedy-delete Black Star Co-op. I can't check the article to see whether it appeared to be blatant spam, but it seems that the author was trying to make a good faith effort to clean the article up, and had requested some time in both his user profile and on the AfD to clean the article up and have his say. Was the article such a blatant violation that it needed to be speedied, or would it have been possible to just leave it some time for the AfD process to come to a consensus and possibly have the article cleaned up? Given that there appeared to be a good-faith effort to participate in the process on Wikipedia, and that the author has made other perfectly fine contributions to Wikipedia, speedy deleting his article without allowing him to have a say seems to be a case of biting the newbie. — λ (talk) 19:22, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
