Whitemud Drive is the main east-west road in the southern half of Edmonton, Alberta. It is one of few roads in Edmonton that has controlled access and no traffic lights at intersections throughout its length (except one light at 17th Street), in other words a freeway.
The western end of the road is formed by an intersection with Anthony Henday Drive on the west side of the city. The road runs east just to the south of West Edmonton Mall, and then bends to the south as it crosses the North Saskatchewan River on the Quesnell Bridge, it turns east againt to cross Whitemud Creek, its namsake. After a major intersection with Calgary Trail (Highway 2 South), Gateway Boulevard (Highway 2 North) and the CPR tracks, Whitemud Drive continues east through industrial parks north of the Mill Woods area and terminates at an intersection with Anthony Henday Drive on the east side of the city.
The section of Whitemud Drive east of Calgary Trail is considered part of Alberta Highway 14, while the section west of that is part of Alberta Highway 2.
