Saxis Wildlife Management Area

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Saxis Wildlife Management Area is a protected area located in Accomack County, Virginia. Predominately comprised of tidal marshland, 5574 acres in total, it is divided into two tracts. Both are peninsulas, bordering on brackish waters such as Beasley Bay, Pocomoke Sound, and Messongo Creek. Several smaller freshwater creeks also may be found throughout the property. Portions of the area farthest inland are occupied by hummocks. The property is maintained mostly in its natural state, with little in the way of human management or development.
