Natural Tunnel State Park

Natural Tunnel State Park is a Virginia state park, centered on the Natural Tunnel and located near Duffield, Virginia. It was created in 1967, and opened to the public in 1971. The tunnel has been a tourist attraction for more than a century; Daniel Boone is believed to have been the first white man to see it, and William Jennings Bryan dubbed it the "Eighth Wonder of the World". For a time, a passenger train line ran through the tunnel; today, it is still used by the railroad for the purposes of carrying coal.
