MTV R is an MTV entertainment channel in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. The channel launched on November 8, 2007 on Digital platforms Virgin Media and Sky Digital.
The R, often written as "Ⓡ", is meant to stand for rated, as the programmes shown are the reality shows which made MTV 'famous'. The "R" was originally thought to mean reality, due to it being an entertainment channel.[citation needed] The programme line up features an hour of music each morning.
