Hortenlinjen is a 7 kilometer branch railway line of Vestfoldbanen from Skoppum to Horten. It is currently disused thought the crossings are still operational.

[edit] History

The line was officially opened on October 13, 1881 as a narrow gauge railway (1067 mm). In 1949 it was rebuilt, along with the rest of Vestfoldbanen, to standard gauge, and electrified in 1957 at 15 kV 16⅔ Hz AC. Passenger traffic was terminated on May 28, 1967 while freight traffic terminated in January 2002. In 2007 it was decided that the line is to be closed and converted to a bicycle path.
