- January 27 - At the 2008 United States Figure Skating Championships in St. Paul, Minnesota, Evan Lysacek wins the men's event, with Johnny Weir winning the silver, Stephen Carriere the bronze, and Jeremy Abbott the pewter. Lysacek and Weir had tied in the overall standings. Lysacek won the title on the tiebreak.
- January 26 - At the 2008 United States Figure Skating Championships in St. Paul, Minnesota, Keauna McLaughlin & Rockne Brubaker win the pairs event, with Rena Inoue & John Baldwin winning the silver, Brooke Castile & Ben Okolski wining the bronze, and Tiffany Vise & Derek Trent winning the pewter medal. McLaughlin & Brubaker are not age-eligible for either the World Championships or the World Junior Championships. In the ice dancing event, Tanith Belbin & Ben Agosto win the gold, Meryl Davis & Charlie White the silver, Kimberly Navarro & Brent Bommentre the bronze, and Emily Samuelson & Evan Bates the pewter. In the ladies event, Mirai Nagasu wins the gold, Rachael Flatt the silver, Ashley Wagner the bronze, and Caroline Zhang the pewter. Only Wagner is age-eligible for the World Championships. Viktor Romanenkov wins the senior men's event. He is the only senior man to compete. Maria Sergejeva & Ilja Glebov win the senior pairs event. They are the only senior pairs team to compete.
- December 16 - At the combined Czech and Slovak nationals, Tomáš Verner (CZE) wins the men's event, Igor Macypura (SVK) is second, and Michal Březina (CZE) is third. The third ranked Czech man is Pavel Kaška (fourth). The second and third ranked Slovak men are Jakub Strobl (seventh) and Taras Rajec (eighth). In the ladies event, Nella Simaová (CZE) is first, Jacqueline Belenyesiova (SVK) is second, and Hana Charyparova (CZE) is third. The third ranked Czech lady is Klara Novakova (fourth). The second and third ranked Slovak ladies are Radka Bártová (sixth) and Ivana Reitmayerova (seventh). In the ice dancing event, Kamila Hájková & David Vincour (CZE) win the gold, and Lucie Myslivečková & Matěj Novák (CZE) win the silver. They are the only two senior dance teams to compete. The Slovak team of Nikola Višňová & Lukáš Csolley win the junior dance title.

In the ladies event, Kimmie Meissner (USA) wins the gold, Miki Ando (JPN) the silver, and Caroline Zhang (USA) the bronze.

Monko & Tkachenko (3rd qualifiers) will advance to the Junior Grand Prix Final. Myslivečková & Novák are the second alternates. In the pairs event, Vera Bazarova & Yuri Larionov (RUS) win the gold, Ksenia Krasilnikova & Konstantin Bezmaternikh (RUS) the silver, and Zhang Yue & Wang Lei (CHN) the bronze. All three teams will advance to the Junior Grand Prix Final. In the men's event, Tatsuki Machida (JPN) wins the gold, Douglas Razzano (USA) wins the silver, and Artem Grigoriev (RUS) wins the bronze. Alexe Gilles wins the silver and Angela Maxwell wins the bronze. This is the third consecutive medal sweep for the United States in a junior ladies event at an ISU competition and the second consecutive sweep for Nagasu, who was part of the United States sweep at the 2007 World Junior Figure Skating Championships.

This is Mahbanoozadeh's first event and first win on the Junior Grand Prix circuit and his first competition on the Junior level. Kanallakan was a competitor at the 2006 Junior Grand Prix Final. Another 2006 JGPF competitor, Tommy Steenberg, finished sixth at this event.

- August 31 - The international junior season officially begins in Lake Placid, New York as the first event of the 2007-2008 ISU Junior Grand Prix gets underway.
- August 28 - Skate Canada announces the end of the partnership of two-time Canadian national bronze medalists and 2006 Four Continents bronze medalists Elizabeth Putnam & Sean Wirtz. Putnam plans to compete in singles and Wirtz has retired from competitive skating and will work as a coach in Hackensack, New Jersey.
- August 25 - At the 2007/2008 Israeli Figure Skating Championships, Maxim Shipov wins the senior men's event unopposed. Ekaterina Sozinova & Fedor Sokolov win the pairs event, with Hayley Anne Sacks & Vadim Akolzin winning the silver medal. They were the only two teams to compete. In ice dancing, Alexandra Zaretsky & Roman Zaretsky win their first senior title unopposed. No senior ladies event was held. In junior ladies, Tamar Katz wins the gold, Jenna Syken the silver, and Sophia Bardakov the bronze. In junior men, Evgeny Krasnopolsky wins the gold, Yan Tales the silver, and Ruslan Mahmud the bronze.
- August 25 - At the 2007/2008 Australian Figure Skating Championships, Sean Carlow wins the men's event. Tristan Thode, a guest skater from New Zealand, comes in second. Nicholas Fernandez comes in third and Robert McNamara is the third highest-ranked Australian men's skater. In the ladies event, Joanne Carter wins her seventh national title, with Tina Wang winning the silver medal and Allie Rout, a guest skater from New Zealand, placing third. The third highest ranked Australian skater was Phoebe Di Tommaso. In ice dancing, Danielle O'Brien & Gregory Merriman win their first senior national title after winning three consecutive junior titles. In second place was guest team Katrina Reyes & Spencer Barnes of Canada. Defending national champions Maria Borounov & Evgeni Borounov withdrew during the event. National Champion Carter announced her retirement from competitive skating following this event.

In the men's event, Kristoffer Berntsson wins the gold, Adrian Schultheiss the silver, and Michael Chrolenko the bronze. Chrolenko was a visiting skater at the championships. In pairs, Aliona Savchenko & Robin Szolkowy (GER) win the gold, Maria Petrova & Alexei Tikhonov (RUS) the silver, and Yuko Kawaguchi & Alexander Smirnov (RUS) the bronze. In the men's event, Brian Joubert (FRA) wins the gold, Johnny Weir (USA) the silver, and Ilia Klimkin (RUS) the bronze.
