The Skate Canada International is an international, senior-level invitation-only figure skating competition. It is part of the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating. Medals are awarded in four disciplines: men's singles, ladies' singles, pairs, and ice dancing.
The 2007 competition was held from November 1st through 4th in Quebec City, Quebec at the Colisée Pepsi.
- The compulsory dance for the ice dance competition was the Yankee Polka.
- Silver medalist Yukari Nakano landed a triple axel in her free skate.[1]
- Melissa Gregory and Denis Petukhov were forced to withdraw before the free dance when he lost his footing and dropped her on her chest during a one-handed rotational lift during the six-minute warmup, and skidded into the boards himself. Gregory was rushed to a hospital on a stretcher but released later that night. They missed the rest of the competitive season while recovering from their injuries.
- Pairs team Yuko Kawaguchi & Alexander Smirnov attempted a throw quadruple salchow jump in their free skate. They were credited with the rotation, but she fell on the landing, so it was not completed successfully.[2]
