[edit] Attractions
Doane Road begins at Yonge Street in Holland Landing. There is a short (roughly 200 metre) section of Doane Road that runs west of Yonge, but it does not have York Regional Road status.
Anchor Park is located slightly northeast of the intersection of Yonge and Doane. The park features a 1,800-kg anchor prepared for the War of 1812, a baseball diamond, and a large forest. Holland Landing’s library and community centre are located less than a kilometre south of the Yonge-Doane intersection.
Doane Road quickly becomes rural east of Anchor Park. While there are a small number of residential homes, the area is mostly surrounded by farms and fields. The road is very hilly.
The street loses its regional road status at Woodbine but physically extends onwards, through barren rural land, as far east as McCowan. A very short segment of Doane re-emerges a few kilometres later, and gets renamed Hollingers Road as it passes into Durham Region.
[edit] Transportation
No public transportation runs along Doane Road. However, York Region Transit route 52 has a stop at Yonge & Doane [1].
The York Region government classifies different parts of the road as Class 4[2]. Thus, daily use is less than 3,000 vehicles.
