[edit] Was I blocked or something?
Did somebody block me or something? Because for some time, WP wouldn't allow me to edit anything. THE $R$ Habla!Hancock 01:26, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Signature
Your signature is 450 characters. That is ridiculous. Please shorten it, per Wikipedia:Signatures. Daniel (talk) 03:25, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, you do need to shorten it. I had hoped that you'd shorten it after the last message you were left about it. *Sigh* this is one of the more unpleasant areas to deal with; I really don't enjoy this part of being an adopter. BTW, would you like me to write up a formal curriculum for your time as my adoptee? You don't seem to be asking very many questions, so would you benefit more from a structured learning experience? It isn't any big deal if you'd like me to. In fact, I'm planning on creating a standard curriculum for future adoptees anyway. Cheers, -The Hybrid- 12:39, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- FWIW, this, followed by this were the sum totals of the response I got when I raised it last time. I can't emphasise enough how little I want to file a RFC about something as petty as an oversized sig but I have a horrible feeling I'm going to have to... — iridescent 16:25, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
The limit on signature size is 255 characters. Wikipedia is set up to automatically prevent signature codes beyond this length from being inserted into the signature form under preferences. Therefore, that means in order to have a signature beyond this length, you are using a subpage like a template to bypass the restriction, which is explicitly forbidden by WP:SIG. In order to avoid this problem in the future, I would recommend, first, only have one signature. Number two, insert the code directly into the form so that you know it is of an acceptable length.
Also, though it is no longer mentioned in the WP:SIG guideline, it is the consensus of the larger Wikipedia community that links to autograph pages are forbidden in signatures. This has been established as the consensus by at least one RfC, if not several which is more likely. Therefore, do not link to your autograph page in your signature. If your current siggy links to it, *cough*, change it before you reply to this message. Really, you don't need an autograph page this early on in your Wiki career anyways.
I'll have the curriculum written for you as soon as I can. Also, when someone contacts you and tells you that you're in violation of Wikipedia policy, contact me before you disagree. You won't get a message like that just randomly and for no reason. There's probably something for me to show you about what they were addressing. Cheers, -The Hybrid- 05:35, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hybrid, you're absolutely right; the templates are here. I'll give a couple of days to let him rescue any coding he wants rescued, then delete the lot, as he's (as you already pointed out) explicitly forbidden from doing this. (If you or him want it done "by the book", let me know and I'll set up MfDs for them.) — iridescent 15:47, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

- Simon, I hate to be snarky but are you doing the exact same thing? If you are, please stop. — iridescent 22:56, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Just butting in here. But may I ask, why can't you add a link to an autograph book in your signature? I'm not against this at all, I would just like a clarification on this. If I had to guess, I think that adding a link to an autograph book in your signature is forbidden because it encourages a user to edit in the username space. Am I right? Please clarify or leave a link. -- RyRy5 (talk) 01:01, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
- All the relevant section of WP:SIG says is "disruptive internal links". I would guess that the thinking behind it is, that while autograph books, "secret pages" and so forth aren't explicitly forbidden, they are very strongly discouraged and regularly get deleted. (See the interminable conversations on secret pages and on autograph pages if you really want to see the thinking behind it; Ryry5, you of all people should know, since large numbers of your pages were deleted as a result!) — iridescent 15:02, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Sig
Hey SRS its me. Do you like my sig. Do you want me to make you one. SEE YOU AROUND. SexyAirEagle 23:30, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] My subpages
After seeing all my subpages, just go aheaad and delete them. Just don't delete my userpage or signature page. As for the autograph book, I'll save the text.

The number of stub articles has decreased to its lowest level since the project began its focus on improving them. The goal is to get the number below 600, and we're getting close. It would be greatly appreciated if anyone could help expand and/or source an article or two. A list has been placed on the stub article subpage of stub articles of well-known wrestlers that should be fairly easy to improve.

[edit] NPA warning.
Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, we would like to remind you not to attack other editors, as you did on User_Talk:Ryulong. Please comment on the contributions and not the contributors. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Metagraph comment 07:03, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
Actually, i think i read your post wrong. Im very sorry for the confusion! However, please do keep in mind that personal attacks are not allowed. Sorry for any confusion, it was a mistake on my part. Best, Metagraph comment 07:14, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
No offense intended, but I don't believe you are one to tell somebody that mainspace is over userspace, because looking at your contributions, you seem to prefer the userspace. iMatthew T.C. 12:33, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
I've left a message for you on iMatt's talk page. Cheers, The Hybrid 07:17, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

So, I contacted Alison about the hack. As it turns out, there is no evidence of any hacking going on. So, in other words, you've been caught with your hand in the cookie jar. You have a week, shift your focus off of the userspace. No more playing with signatures, none of that. Do vandalism patrol, copyedit, whatever you're good at, whatever you enjoy doing. I'm on every day, and I'm not the only one you can ask if you don't know how to do something. iMatt goes with out saying, User:LAX is great, so is User:D.M.N., User:Nikki311, there is no shortage of people who are on here daily who can show you the ropes. As far as you lying to me goes, well, I don't even need to say anything about it. You have a week, The Hybrid 10:09, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
If more than one IP address has logged in to your account, all of them are registered to your house. There is nothing to suggest someone has hijacked your account. Also, I've never suggested deleting your page. However, that is something within the realm of possibility that you need to be aware of. The Hybrid 04:32, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
iMatthew suggested it to me, and I told him it was arbitrary. I never suggested it. Also, the reason I think you're lying is because the IP(s) used by the account is(are) registered to your house. There are no outside IPs that have logged in to the account. This is what the checkuser determined. If someone had hijacked your account, the checkuser would have determined it.
