This WikiProject Video games inactive project cleanup task force is an attempt to clean up the WikiProject space of video game-related WikiProjects. There are two criteria that this task force is looking to assure:
- WikiProjects with no active participation
- WikiProjects that may have active participation, but are likely to be better as a task force of WikiProject Video games due to a narrow scope.
In both cases, the indicated WikiProjects, should they meet the criteria, will be moved from their current WikiProjects to a task force of WikiProject Video games.

[edit] Reasoning
The concept of this cleanup was introduced in this discussion thread, and several existing video game-related WikiProjects were pointed out as being either inactive, or having too narrow a scope. Assigning these as task forces helps to encourage participation from all members of the WikiProject Video games community, as well as to have a better concentration of resources for developing video game articles.
[edit] Method
The task force will perform the following steps.
- In all video game related projects, we will leave a message (shown below) describing this task force, and leaving the option of either moving that WikiProject over to WikiProject Video games to the users of that WikiProject. Notified WikiProjects will be tracked on this page.
- Members of that WikiProject will be given time to discussion and respond to this proposal - this should reflect the consensus of the project.
- After a month from the notification, each WikiProject will be revisited again:
- If there is no response at all to the message, it will be assumed that the WikiProject is inactive, and it will be moved into WikiProject Video games as a task force.
- If there is consensus to move the project as a task force, then this will be done as well (A project is free to do this step themselves if there is consensus for this.)
- If there is no consensus, or a consensus to retain the project as a standalone WikiProject, then no move will be performed.
The following notice will be used to inform others of this project's activities.
WikiProject Video games is looking to clean up both inactive and limited-scope WikiProjects dealing with video games and move these into task forces of WikiProject Video games, as outlined at Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Inactive project cleanup. This message is being posted to this project to first see if this project is currently active, and if there is consensus to move this project into a task force. We ask that if this project is still active, that you determine as a project if this project should remain separate from WikiProject Video games, and let us know your intentions. Please let us know within the month; those projects that do not respond within that time will be assumed to be inactive and will be cleaned up automatically. This is not a mandatory process; we will not attempt to anything to your project if there is no consensus or consensus against moving it. However, we do urge you to consider if your project needs to remain separate from WikiProject Video games. Please let us know if you have any questions on this.
