Hello; the user who created the article has contacted me about my deletion of said article under G11 and maintains that you helped her in creating the article in the last form. I found your helpful hints on the users talk-page, but nothing else. Have you been contacted in any other form?. Cheers. Lectonar 15:43, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

The Rambling Man has been identified as an Awesome Wikipedian, Love, A record of your Day will always be kept here. |
My dear Rambling Man, after your incredily kind and sweet message to ou, I thought about dropping you a line to express my gratitude... but I realized you deserve so much more than that. You're a hard working, kind and wonderful person, and no amounts of recognition to your dedication and brightness are enough. From a personal side, may this tiny gift also serve as a token of my gratitude for your beautiful message, and an offer of friendship towards someone I look up to and whom I deeply admire and respect. Enjoy your special day, friend! :) Love, Phaedriel - 00:04, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

Lili Winery
Hello,
I hoped you could help me understand why the article I add regarding Lili Winery is being deleted all the time.
Lili Winery is one of the most presitigous wineries today in Israel (same level as Carmel, Dalton, Golan etc.) and I think it deserves an article in Wikipedia.
Thank you for clarifying this to me.
Best regards,
Nadav Attar Israel email: nadavattar@gmail.com

Officer Rambling Man,
---I am most proplexed as to why you felt the need to delete my article on "Sleezer Home". I think it is obvious that anyone who were doing any research on the topic of Freeport, IL and the institutions herein, would have valued such an article. I am sorry if it was not up to your "standard" but there is a lot of information on Wikipedia that does not offer a defense of it's worthiness. It was simply information that anyone curious about my area would have available.

Officer Rambling Man,
---One more thing. There is an article on wikipedia that relates to my family. It is in another language. Can an article simply be translated to English with the original other credited?

More from Ar15militant
Alright Mr. Rambling Man,
---The article I am refering to is on or located at the following address, (http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luis_Ricardo_Alonso). I would like to translate it to English. So in other words, I would like to copy it word for word, but translated. My questions being of course, is that allowed? Do I need permission from the original author or do I simply cite his/her article and give them credit?

ATEasy page
Why do you keep on deleting this page? ATEasy is a programming language similar to LabView. I would like to write a topic regarding it.
Rambling man, thanks for replying. I'm is not advertizing. I will add some more content in the next few days and please let me know if you still have problems with this. I will let you know what I'm doing and post it here, or just let you know when I'm done (let me know if you have any prefrence). I'm a havvy user of ATEasy and that is why I named my self DrATEasy, I also familiar with LabView. I feel that both deserve space in this world (ATEasy is more geared for testing, Lab View instrument control). If you add TestStand to ATEasy you will have similar features to ATEasy. Everything I've written is True and represents the product/language. I will try to add Benefit and Criticism (similar to what I saw in the LabView section). Also refrences, sources and catagories as you commented. Thanks again for responding.[[User::DrATEasy.
Rambling man, I made some changes, Can you please take a look? A question since I'm new to Wiki: Why no one can see my posts? I have found another person to write the benefit/criticism section but he can't write this unless he can see it. Is there some kind of request tag? Thanks for you help [User:DrATEasy].
July 2007 GAC backlog elimination drive
A new elimination drive of the backlog at Wikipedia:Good article candidates will take place from the month of July through August 12, 2007. There are currently about 130 articles that need to be reviewed right now. If you are interested in helping with the drive, then please visit Wikipedia:Good article candidates backlog elimination drive and record the articles that you have reviewed. Awards will be given based on the number of reviews completed. Since the potential amount of reviewers may significantly increase, please make sure to add :{{GAReview}} underneath the article you are reviewing to ensure that only one person is reviewing each article. Additionally, the GA criteria may have been modified since your last review, so look over the criteria again to help you to determine if a candidate is GA-worthy. If you have any questions about this drive or the review process, leave a message on the drive's talk page. Please help to eradicate the backlog to cut down on the waiting time for articles to be reviewed.
You have received this message either due to your membership with WikiProject: Good Articles and/or your inclusion on the Wikipedia:Good article candidates/List of reviewers. --Nehrams2020 23:42, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Hello
I'm a rude so-and-so. I've been having some "interesting" times IRL and these have definitely affected my attitude toward and time for WP. I don't particularly regret this (and it may change), but I do regret being pretty unresponsive toward you... to the point of being rude. Please forgive me. I value our quirky collaborative friendship enormously. As you'll have noticed, since ending my Wikibreak, I've been in and around the Project, although not contributing too much to article space (though today's efforts at the Humanities Desk makes me hanker for interfering with the Saladin article). Hope you're well too and that your promotion has not gone to your head or your other half's credit card. --Dweller 15:36, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

I have fixed almost all of your comments now. If you wouldn't mind striking when you have the time. I have not fixed the table yet. What exactly do you mean? Do you want the Heading row merged into one? or just remove the from-to and just replace with period. The separate period columns give it the separated effect. Bed and Breakfast
Hello and thank you for your reply, so if I had given an expert opinion but a different name would the change have stood ? It is the very fact that I am involved with the bed and breakfast trade that qualifies me to write about it, coupled with the fact that I recently had cause to use both Premier and Travelodge accommodation when my mother was terminally ill. Bed and Breakfast with a guesthouse means just that. You get a bed and a breakfast, with Premier and Travelodge you get a bed. If you want a breakfast there is a vending machine or the service station which they are built near to. With a consequential cost involved which is not the case with the B & B. The facts of the matter are that the B & B trade is categorically not suffering at the hands of the chain operator. Where I am there are literally hundreds of B and B's and all are doing good business. The chain providers are just that, a chain with no individuality. As I said in one of my attempts to correct this article, the difference is like eating at McDonalds or a similar establishment and eating in a restaurant. The article is very misleading to anyone who lives outside the UK or within the UK and has not experienced B & B. Surely the object of any of the articles on Wikipedia is to inform, not to present a one sided view. I gave a link to my website to illustrate and reinforce the point I was making.
Yours, Bee and bee 16:53, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

Wow, thanks for reviewing the article so fast. I added the majority of the sources and information today and was surprised I was able to find so much information about the film. If it was this easy to find information for other films, I would have a lot more film GAs. Keep up the good work with the reviews. --Nehrams2020 08:03, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
- I was wondering if you could also leave so more comments on the article's page, saying that you passed the article. That will prevent any objections from other reviewers or editors of the article. Thanks again! --Nehrams2020 08:05, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Bed and breakfasts
Hi, I've done an edit again without a link, personally I think it less informative and of less use to a reader. It seems if someone thinks I have a COI there is little I can do about it. I still feel that an expert opinion from someone on the ground can be more use than the writings of someone who may have no experience of either the subject or the country it applies to. It would be like me writing on Elvis Presley and his later years, drawing my work from the writings of others, I gather Wikipedia frowns on this too. That being the case it seems hard for Wikipedia to get fresh, accurate items written by people who know what they are talking about. I had tried to write in an unbiased way and sincerely thought I had done so. Perhaps if you're not happy with the present edit you could re write it including the points that are missing. I look forward to your reply, Bee and bee 18:57, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

SR Class Q1
Hi. Having seen your GA Review Comments for SR Class Q1 I have a question for you. You indicate that the 'In Fiction' section needs a reference. As the section refers to an animated TV series, what sort of reference would be adequate here? Would it be sufficient to specify the particular episode in which the character appears? I suspect there are many, many TV series on WP that have not been substantially written about on paper (or from an academic viewpoint online) and presumably take their information directly from the TV programmes themselves.
As a member of WP:THOMAS I am keen to comply with WP standards. But there is precious little written formally about the Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends TV series, making it difficult to cite references.
If the 'In Fiction' section of the SR Q1 article is removed to achieve GA status, it is bound to be re-instated before long by one of the many young editors who 'contribute' to the Thomas pages, so it would be useful to know what approaches are available to us to retain the section in some form and maintain the quality of the article. Any advice would be gratefully received.
EdJogg 14:32, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
- Unfortunately your advice makes perfect sense! The section does make the article more complete, but it loses little by its absence.
- If this policy is applied strictly then quite a lot of the Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends articles may be in jeopardy (although the very earliest stuff does have a source available, fortunately). But this is a battle for someone else to fight, as trying to maintain the standard of the existing pages is taking up too much of my time.
- Thanks for the advice. EdJogg 00:00, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
GA fail question
I noticed you have recently failed Dave Bautista and Brian Adams, with a list of concerns on the related talkpages. Wouldn't it be better to put the articles on hold so that we can make the changes, and then you come and re-review it, like what's going on on the John Cena talkpage at the moment. I think this is better so that we don't have to resubmit the articles and going through the whole process again. Thanks anyway, just thought I needed to bring that up. Davnel03 17:27, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
- Oh I'm only wondering. Davnel03 17:34, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

Hi,
I saw the GA review comments you made for Live and Let Die (Novel).
I should like, one day, to put the Barbara Bouchet article up for GA status.

Thanks,

Barbara Bouchet - Thank You
Thanks for your comments on what needs to be done in order to get GA status for Barbara Bouchet. However, regarding the paragraph you pointed out, that was in the Italian source. Barbara Bouchet has lived in Italy since 1970 and all the biographical source material on her is in Italian.
However, in the coming months, I will rewrite that paragraph and do all the other items you pointed out.
Thanks again,

I've done most of the changes you have recommended for the SR Class Q1, and those which are different have their reasons on the talk page. - I agree, but how do you change the title?--Bulleid Pacific 18:59, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
Erm, I'm working on pretty much every article in the Southern Railway list box at the bottom of each page...But I think that it's only the N Class that needs changing to SR, so if you wish to do it, then be my guest...Also, thank you for reviewing all articles placed for review over the last few days!--Bulleid Pacific 19:04, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
-
-
- OK, I've now moved the page to SR N Class, and now it is standardised with the rest of the Southern Railway articles.--Bulleid Pacific 19:39, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
- Well, as a Southern Railway enthusiast, I can honestly say that for ease of use, 'SR' is most commonly used in books. However, in terms of everyday use, we don't even use that (because we generally know to what we are referring to)! But at the end of the day, its a matter of personal preference. Anyway, keep up the good work, I have a few more articles on the way (it's an uphill struggle, but it keeps me researching, and I learn something new with even my favourite classes!). Cheers. --Bulleid Pacific 19:46, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

OK...
If you REALLY want to help, is it possible that you could pop over to the SR West Country Class article, and give it a thorough going over as regards WP:MoS, and pop any findings in its Wikipedia:Peer review/SR West Country and Battle of Britain Classes page? If not, then no worries, but I do wish to get the Bulleid pacifics the recognition they deserve, due to their relative uniqueness in British Railway history (nothing like them had been seen in Britain before). In that vein, I wish to get at least one Southern Railway article to FA status, and the closest in my opinion is the West Country Class article. Thank you very much for your encouragement.--Bulleid Pacific 19:59, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
-
- Once again, thank-you. I hope you stick around if things get nasty (as I know it does from experience!) and mediate, and also, feel free to add anything to any other article on the Southern Railway section if you feel it needs doing. At the end of the day, I can only do one article at a time in terms of presentational issues. But as a semi-Ipswich Town supporter myself (changed to Accrington Stanley as my main team as they need all the help they can get!), good luck in anything you do. Cheers!--Bulleid Pacific 20:17, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

Some anons have been beavering away at Bradman...Blnguyen (bananabucket) 08:46, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
I'll have Davidson ready by tomorrow. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 08:46, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
I think this is a wonderful idea. I'm happy to get involved. Which one are we going to address first? --Dweller 10:16, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
- For ease of navigation while we do this, could we (shock horror) use a template on the main article and for each of the players. The usual argument at WT:CRIC is against proliferation of "ugly" templates, but this would be no precedent, given the featured topic concept. --Dweller 10:18, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, elegant template would be highly appropriate. The Rambling Man 10:53, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
- See the squadbox on Bradman's page and on the main article. Not sure about including the tour manager. First, because he was not coach and second, because in those days it was more about logistics than sport and third because the redlink is horrid! --Dweller 12:23, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

I've drawn the attention of the WikiProject to this idea (and this thread). I suggest we centralise discussion at Talk:Australian cricket team in England in 1948 --Dweller 13:41, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
Re:JVGA
No, I like criticism, if it's needed (and it is). I've worked really hard on the article, but I'm a bit too close to see a lot of the problems that exist. I'll send you a message as soon as I'm done addressing your concerns, which will probably be in about 4-5 hours (after I got to my class, which I have to leave right now for, and get back from the doc's). BIGNOLE (Contact me) 17:36, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
- Missed my walk-in time at the doc's office, so I came back early. I've addressed all your concerns. Please let me know if they were not done adequately, or of there are certain things that you've found in addition. BIGNOLE (Contact me) 20:19, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

- It seems that after I corrected everything, another admin came in an reverted just most of the corrections. I undid the "undo", and explained that they were made to address the GAR. I'm letting you know in case I didn't find everything that was undone. BIGNOLE (Contact me) 21:13, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

- Thanks for all the comments. I hope you'll join-in when it goes to FAC, which won't be for awhile. I'm planning on picking up two more books which I hope will expand the characterization and pop culture sections. BIGNOLE (Contact me) 13:04, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

Re: Tsk, silly me
The GA page is on my watchlist so I can keep track of potential "Selected articles" for Portal:Trains, and I saw the update listing that article. I've also been working over the last year to cut down the backlog in Category:Unassessed rail transport articles (which has ballooned in the last several months; I get everything assessed up to articles beginning with H and then someone adds a bunch more to the list), so a quick update to the project banner seemed appropriate. About your query...
A good point, but there is an answer to that. Note that the title of the list box is "Principle Locomotives of the Southern Railway," a context that includes locomotives of constituent companies that was absorbed into the Southern Railway after the 1923 grouping of the railways. These railways were the London and South Western Railway, the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway, and finally the South Eastern and Chatham Railway. The classes from these railway companies represented in the list box of Southern Railway locomotives are there due to the fact that there were many of them in use under the Southern (the LSWR M7 Class being a key example), and if left off the listbox, would mean that other people would probably place them there. In the case of the LSWR N15 Class, three quarters were built during the Southern period to what was essentially still an LSWR design by Robert Urie.
As a result, it is unfortunate that there are no definite lines to be drawn between who built what, and you have highlighted one of the complex issues surrounding steam locomotives, that some designed under one company continued to be built in vast numbers by another. I hope this goes some way to answer your query. Keep up the good work regarding clearing the backlog of GA candidates, --Bulleid Pacific 18:31, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
