Scottish Premier League 2008-09

The 2008–09 Scottish Premier League season will be the eleventh season of the Scottish Premier League. After the 33rd round of matches, the league will split in half and each team will play a further five matches against the teams in their half. It is the second season under the sponsorship of the Clydesdale Bank.

Fixtures for the season are due to be announced on 16 June 2008.[1]

More about European qualification:
a. The 4th and the 5th placed team will qualify to UEFA Cup third and second qualifying round respectively if the Scottish Cup's finalists end 3th or higher;
b. A further place in the UEFA Cup is available via the Fair Play League. The winner is placed into a draw with the winners of Fair Play leagues in other countries. The representatives from the two countries that come out of the hat first are given a place in the UEFA Cup First Qualifying Round. If the team who finishes top of the Fair Play League has already qualified for Europe via the league, their place in the draw will be awarded to the next highest placed team in the Fair Play League who hasn't qualified for Europe.
