Schignano is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Como in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 50 km north of Milan and about 13 km north of Como, on the border with Switzerland. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 950 and an area of 10.2 km².[1]
The municipality of Schignano contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Almanno, Auvrascio, Molobbio, Occagno, Perla, Retegno, and Vesbio.
Schignano borders the following municipalities: Argegno, Brienno, Bruzella (Switzerland), Cabbio (Switzerland), Carate Urio, Casasco d'Intelvi, Cerano d'Intelvi, Dizzasco, Moltrasio.
