[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Archery 2008.gif

Resolved.

Thanks for uploading Image:Archery 2008.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 19:38, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: User:Parutakupiu/Sandbox2

You didn't need to open the talk page for this, it'll get speedy deleted when I'm done :P

I think these tables were created and added like this. I was impressed when I noticed that none of the 2004 gymnastics event pages existed and the main sport article was in that state! Anyway, I'm in the middle of cleaning up all of them, so I hope you don't mind if take full responsibility for this task ;) Cheers! Parutakupiu talk || contribs 21:53, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Take all the responsibility you want! I'll just have you know that I kicked it off with the men's trampoline page, just to set the record straight! Haha. Nice work so far. Well done. Jaredt  21:55, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
Hehe. If you hadn't renamed the trampoline pages, I would've created new ones when I'd be duplicating them instead, so... thank YOU! ;) Parutakupiu talk || contribs 22:12, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
Oh, I had thought you said on Andrwsc's page that you did realize there were trampoline pages! That would have been a catastrophe (on a minor scale)! Jaredt  22:14, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Non-free use disputed for Image:Pan am 1951.jpg

Resolved.
Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Pan am 1951.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:00, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Template:SCOTUSCase

I noticed that you undid an edit of mine that cleaned up the code in Template:SCOTUSCase. I don't understand why. The image should be centered if it's using a <th> command, which it was. The extra code specifying bold and center was superfluous. It was certainly centered in my browsers. Was it different for you? --MZMcBride 16:36, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

That's odd. Because it was not centered in firefox, but then when I went to IE, it was centered. So I'm not sure how to fix this. I'm sure it would be fine if we just put it back to the way it was, because I think it was universally centered there. I had no idea that your edit actually centered the image on IE, so that's why I reverted you. I don't think you should change it back, though, if it doesn't show up right in all browsers. [edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:Beach Volleyball 2008.gif)

Resolved.

Thanks for uploading Image:Beach Volleyball 2008.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 13:35, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:2012 Olympic bid opposers.gif

Resolved.

You tagged this image as GFDL. However, since it's derivative of the official London logo, which is copyrighted, it must be used under fair use. If you could add a fair use rationale to the image, that'd be great. Ral315 » 05:43, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. All set. Jaredt  12:19, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] PyeongChang 2014 Olympic bid

I'm confused by your rational on marking this redirect for Speedy Deletion, when you said that "If this page is a redirect, there would be no way for someone to create this page." Since that's not true, I've reverted the page back to the redirect. CitiCat 19:38, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

In other words, if the page is a redirect, a person would automatically think there is a page there, but it's actually a redirect. Instead, if there's a redlink, someone would see that and create a page to fill the redlink. It's worked in the past for me, so I figured it would be appropriate here. In short, these pages should be redirects, they should be their own pages, and the only way to get the message across is redlink them. Jaredt  02:50, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
It's ok - I nuked it. It was redirecting back to the only page it was linked from, so totally useless for that reason. Andrwsc 02:54, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] User:Zamkudi

Resolved.

I copied the general code from your userpages. Now there are some changes which I would like to make but cannot due to the technologically challenged nature of my job. :o

  • Could you get the "About me" section to the top, instead of the Wikipedia news section?
  • My "features of the day" section isn't showing up as it does on your userpage. Go Dhokla! -- Zamkudi Dhokla queen! 12:25, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
Everything's fixed, except the FotD section. I personally think it's useless, so I'll probably take it off my page eventually. I never look at it. Anyhow, I also changed your (my) color scheme, because I don't want you to take everything of mine! I made it pink, but if you want to change it, ask me or go to User:Zamkudi/MAIN to change the color settings. Jaredt  15:34, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
Naeeo. I like the FotD section, at least for the time being! I like the new colour scheme, could you change it to a lighter shade of pink? Go Dhokla! -- Zamkudi Dhokla queen! 08:07, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

I noticed that you signed up for the BUPC. However, registration for normal contests are over, with the championships being the only activity one can play in. You can judge the userpages of these champions for yourself at this championship. Season one of BUPC ends soon, however you can participate in season two which starts about a month later. Thanks. [edit] TFA/R revamping

I am just noticing a lengthy discussion I missed about TFA/R revamping a few months back. The whole Raul fan club seems to have gotten involved. Raul actually does a tremendous job, but I think the process could be improved. I proposed something about 5 months ago at Wikipedia:Today's_featured_article/amendment_proposal. I am now not sure how one gets on the main page. It looks like the whole request system has died except for a few select dates. The article I want to get onto the main page, Chicago Board of Trade Building has a June anniversary, so I have to hope space frees up in May or June so I can get on this impossible to get onto request page. What are your thoughts on the current state of WP:TFA.TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 21:35, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image source problem with Image:Wrestling 2008.gif

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Wrestling 2008.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 00:52, 6 October 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. KipSmithers T/C 00:52, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Redirect of Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Sports Olympics/archive02

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Sports Olympics/archive02, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Sports Olympics/archive02 is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Sports Olympics/archive02, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. [edit] 1976 Summer Olympics medal count

Hi, I was wondering what you thought of this article, which was modeled after the 1928 page and I was intending on making an FLC once the other is completed. -- Scorpion0422 20:57, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

So are you satisfied with the list, or is there anything huge I need to do before I nominate it? -- Scorpion0422 18:24, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:French military victories.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:French military victories.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. NotifyBot (talk) 14:28, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image question

Hi Jared, with ref to this image, it is showing as being both copyright and public-domain, it probably should be one or the other. I note here that UIUC does seem to claim copyrights. Can you clarify whether or not the image is acceptable on Wikipedia? Since anyone else could go take a free photo, a fair-use claim doesn't seem workable here. Thanks! [edit] 2006 Winter Olympics

There is a dead reference in the 2006 Winter Olympics, apparently added by you a while ago. I thought about deleting it, but if you happen to have the source, you might want to try and fix it. GregorB (talk) 20:25, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Hey, thanks a lot! I actually found the old source (by going back and finding what "Events" referenced). It seems that when I converted the Olympics template into an automatic-type deal, I got rid of the source that the dead one referred to. Anyway, I put the whole thing back in, so we're all good! Thanks for coming to me first! Jared (t)  22:18, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
