Fly (clothing)

A fly is a zipped, Velcro or buttoned opening in trousers, shorts and other garments covering the groin. It is opened by both sexes to facilitate urination and defecation, and by both genders to allow garments to be taken on or off with greater ease.
An accidentally open fly is often considered a social embarrassment.
