[edit] Village pump

I started editing frenetically last week without reading the rules... I figured that I would learn them as I go, and now I'm actually bolding things... and citing. Yay.

But... the first article I wrote was Macworld Conference & Expo. I was on the Apple Macintosh page, and saw that Macworld Expo was listed, and decided to correct it to its proper name. Then I noticed there was no article for this newly created name (I was new then), and I set out creating an article.

Then a few days later I realized that there was still a Macworld Expo article... even if it was shorter. Oops. So... I guess the question is, should I make the other one a redirect, or should I merge the pages, and keep the old title? -Bugmuncher 17:09, 8 Aug 2003 (UTC)

I think merging the short one into the long one, making the short one a redirect is most usual, if the long one has the better name. (17:14, 8 Aug 2003 (UTC))
Just copied the text from Macworld Expo to Macworld Conference & Expo, making Macworld Expo a redirect, haven't merged it properly, though. Ксип Cyp 17:21, 8 Aug 2003 (UTC)
Welcome to Wikipedia! :) Martin

[edit] Glad you like it

I am glad that you like the script. Feel free to use it on articles in your categories of interest. If you are feeling brave, you can copy the contents, make your own version and edit it. Regards. bobblewik 21:06, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks for the cluestick :)

And no hard feelings. Copyright is a confusing area that I myself had to research to understand. The big thing that's confusing is how people still file copyrights at the United States Copyright Office, but really its purpose is just to be able to say "I told you so" if their claim of creation comes into question. Basically, if a business wants to make sure they don't have to bother with lawsuits, they copywrite their works offically to save themselves the hassle. See Copyright Act of 1976 for more information.

On another note, you can always try resending the images in with the right fair use tag ;) But see if there are any free images of him out there first.--SeizureDog 05:28, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

The unusually funny thing about this is that I know a lot about IP law, sorta, with respect to licensing of trademarks. It hadn't occurred to me that my copyright information went out of date shortly after I was born...Bugmuncher 05:36, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
Changed up the Copyright notices in the Jesse Macbeth area. While I think you were close, I think that listing them as CopyrightedFreeUseProvidedThat is more accurate, since under a Copyleft-style liscense, there is still the stipulation that your subsequent works also be freely available (which the Wikipedia fully meets). Damn good work with the article, though. EvilCouch 09:24, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Change to Common.css

Per recent discussions, the way in which Persondata is viewed by Wikipedia editors has changed. In order to continue viewing Persondata in Wikipedia articles, please edit your user CSS file to display table.persondata rather than table.metadata. More specific instructions can be found on the Persondata page. --ShakingSpirittalk on behalf of Kaldari 00:47, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] GAC backlog elimination drive

This form message is being sent to you either due to your membership with WikiProject Good Articles and/or your inclusion on the Wikipedia:Good article candidates/List of reviewers. A new drive has been started requesting that all members review at least one article (or more, if you wish!) within the next two weeks at GAC to help in removing the large backlog. This message is being sent to all members, and even members who have been recently reviewing articles. There are almost 130 members in this project and about 180 articles that currently need to be reviewed. If each member helps to review just one or two articles, the majority of the backlog will be cleared. Since the potential amount of reviewers may significantly increase, please make sure to add :{{GAReview}} underneath the article you are reviewing to ensure that only one person is reviewing each article. Additionally, the GA criteria may have been modified since your last review, so look over the criteria again to help you to determine if a candidate is GA-worthy. If you have any questions about this drive or the review process, leave a message on the GAC talk page. --Nehrams2020 00:05, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] July 2007 GAC backlog elimination drive

A new elimination drive of the backlog at Wikipedia:Good article candidates will take place from the month of July through August 12, 2007. There are currently about 130 articles that need to be reviewed right now. If you are interested in helping with the drive, then please visit Wikipedia:Good article candidates backlog elimination drive and record the articles that you have reviewed. Awards will be given based on the number of reviews completed. If you have any questions about this drive or the review process, leave a message on the drive's talk page. Please help to eradicate the backlog to cut down on the waiting time for articles to be reviewed.

You have received this message either due to your membership with WikiProject: Good Articles and/or your inclusion on the Wikipedia:Good article candidates/List of reviewers. --Nehrams2020 23:11, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
