The 1982 World Endurance Championship season was the 30th FIA World Sportscar Championship season. It was a series running under the Group C formula, as well as racing against cars in Group B, Group 6, Group 5, IMSA GTX, IMSA GTO, GT, and T classes, although none of these cars were included in the WEC Championship. It ran from April 18, 1982 to October 17, 1982, and was comprised of 8 races.
This marked the first year that the chassis builder was included in the manufacturer's championship, instead of merely the engine builder.

[edit] Season Results
Points were awarded to the top 10 finishers in the order of 20-15-12-10-8-6-4-3-2-1, with the following exceptions:
- Drivers failing to drive the car within a certain percentage of the laps in a race were not given points.
- Manufacturers were only given points for their highest finishing car; any other cars from that manufacturer were merely skipped in the points standings. Points were still awarded to their drivers however.
- Neither driver nor manufacturer scored points if they did not complete 90% of the winner's distance.

[edit] Manufacturers Championships
All cars were awarded points for the overall championship, regardless of the class they participated in. No individual championships were held.
Chassis builder and engine builder were considered as a single constructor, thus multiple chassis or engines can be listed.
Former Group 6 cars were allowed to participate, but were not allowed to score points toward the manufacturer's championships for not aligning with Group C rules. This most notably applies to Lancia.
Manufacturer's points were not awarded for Rounds 6, 7, and 8.
