The 1985 World Endurance Championship season was the 33rd FIA World Sportscar Championship season. It was a series running under the Group C formula, running cars in two classes known as C1 and C2. An invitational GTP class was also run for IMSA-spec cars. It ran from April 14, 1985 to December 1, 1985, and was comprised of 10 races.
This year marked the first time that a championship was awarded for individual teams instead of having a manufacturer's championship.

[edit] Season Results
Points were awarded to the top 10 finishers in the order of 20-15-12-10-8-6-4-3-2-1, with the following exceptions:
- Drivers failing to drive the car within a certain percentage of the laps in a race were not given points.
- Teams were only given points for their highest finishing car; any other team cars were merely skipped in the points standings. Points were still awarded to their drivers however.
- Neither driver nor teams scored points if they did not complete 90% of the winner's distance.

[edit] Overall Teams Championship
All cars were awarded points for the overall championship, but C2 class cars were scored separately for their own championship.
No points were awarded for Rounds 2, 8, and 10. Points were intended for Round 9, but were not awarded due to the race being stopped at less than 50% distance being covered.
