[edit] Structure
I find that LXX is supposed to have been" translated" about 300 BC by a Heathen Aristeas. He appears to be non-existant to history. Rumours about his actual "existance" read like a Medeavil fairy tale. Just suppose he was real. How did he ever get 72 Jewish Scholars ( six from each tribe) to collaberate on a "translation of Hebrew scripture into the " language of DOGS" ? The Jews had been dispersed into captivity at least three times in the previous 1500 years .When did they find their way to Alexandria at this opportune moment? Surely the Levites protested, Into whos keeping God Himself had entrusted the WORD of GOD? The supposed COPIER of this non-existant work was ORIGEN , a heratic who ,himself did NOT believe Jesus was the Christ, did NOT believe Holy Spirit was deity , believed in re-incarnation ETC, wrote heretical books Bel and the dragon ,Judith , Tobit ,and other non canonical trash. Origen is supposed to have seen the "original" LXX from 300BC , memorized it and "translated it into the SEPTUIGENT 300AD (C.E.); from this he also completed the hexapola Problem with Origen ,is when you start with a WRONG hypothesis , YOU WILL ALWAYS END UP WITH A WRONG CONCLUSION In Origens case it was DELIBERATE Origens memory is monumental to say the least. Memorizing a non-existant text like the LXX and re-writing it is like Thomas Jefferson memorizing the Magna Carta and including it in the Declaration of Independance--- nOT possible Origen is not only a heratic ,but a LIAR of the first order. Aparently he also altered some of Josephus' works ( TESTIMONIUM FLAVIANUM) to try and get rid of Josephus reference to Christs ressurrection

[edit] Goals
- Unify the presentations of the Biblical canon (cf. Apocrypha, Books of the Bible, Septuagint, Old Testament, New Testament).
- Unify presentation of the individual books of the Bible.
- Keep Bible translations pages in order.
As with any Wikipedia project, be aware of other sources and consolidate information in the appropriate places. Collaborate with related projects, wikis, and websites and be respectful of people's differing opinions. See particularly WikiProjects Judaism and Countering systemic bias in religion.
Please discuss any goal changes in the talk page. For reference, there is also an archive of this topic.

[edit] Tasks
- Reorganize by learning from some of the popular projects (e.g. Military history).
- Make better use of transclusion and templates.
- Fill out Structure section with examples/templates of good pages.
- Use commons:Category:Bible for majority of uploaded media.
- To assess the articles that fall within the project's scope through the Assessment unit, making it easier to know how the various articles with which the project deals with stand.
- Add all pages that fall within the scope of this project to the list at Wikipedia:WikiProject Bible/Articles by category
- Patrol the list at recent changes for recent improvements, vandalism, or other changes to these articles.

[edit] Templates
Please feel free to add the template {{WikiProject Bible}} to the talk pages of all articles dealing with the Bible.
Use the bibleverse template for linking to verses in footnoted references. For example:
"For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." (John 3:17, NIV )
and in the references section: ^ John 3:17
There exist Ketuvim, Torah, and Nevi'im templates in use.
I made some templated to organize some:
- {{sons of Abraham}} produces:
| Sons of Abraham by wife in order of birth | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Hagar | Ishmael (1) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Sarah | Isaac (2) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Keturah | Zimran | Jokshan | Medan | Midian | Ishbak | Shuah | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
- {{sons of Ishmael}} produces:
| Sons of Ishmael in order of birth (Genesis) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Nebaioth | Kedar | Adbeel | Mibsam | Mishma | Dumah | Massa | Hadad | Tema | Jetur | Naphish | Kedemah | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
- {{Adam to David}} produces:
|
|||||||||||
- {{Portal:Bible/Featured chapter/Template}} adds the current selected Bible verse from Portal:Bible to your user page:
David meets Jonathan and asks him to secretly find out Saul's intentions, but Saul tells Jonathan that he knows that Jonathan is David's companion, and that he intends to kill David. Jonathan is so hurt that he stops eating and goes to tell David.
PEOPLE: David - Jonathan - Saul - יהוה YHVH God - Abner

RELATED ARTICLES: Jonathan and David - Oath - Jesse - Javelin

Blubberbrein2 22:25, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
It's a bit bright and garish, is there any way to tone the colours down a bit?
I get the feeling that some (but not all) of the templates would be controversial - Islam says that the sons of Abraham happened in a different order to Judaism, for example. Clinkophonist 17:29, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
I've made a new template to cover style issues that Bible articles sometimes seem to befall. Its based on the {{In-universe}} template, which people are avoiding using because it says fact from fiction, as it would obviously have bias problems in Bible articles.
- {{In-religion-universe}} produces:
| This article or section describes a work or element of religion in a primarily in-universe style. Please rewrite this article or section to explain the religious nature more clearly and provide outside perspective. |
—Preceding unsigned comment added by Clinkophonist (talk • contribs) 23:12, 1 March 2008
- NOTE: Could be a good idea, but the links still go to a page talking about "fiction". They should definitely point to a more appropriate page. Til Eulenspiegel (talk) 14:33, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
- I have rewritten the text and re-linked it to a page talking about articles that are too technical, as well as the main Wikipedia:manual of style page. (I have also subst:ed the original template in the above entry on this talk page, for purpose of comparison between the old version, above, and the new one.) However, I think the page ought to be renamed; the current name still carries the point of view that religion is a "universe," as if it is separate from the real one; whether that point of view is valid or not, it's not for Wikipedia to decide. 69.140.152.55 (talk) 01:54, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
