[edit] Adopt an article

Similar to the Collaboration of the week, but on a smaller scale, you might want to "adopt" an article. This would involve doing the research, writing, and picture-taking (if possible) for either a non-existent article or a stub. Of course, everyone else can still edit an adopted article, and you can work on other things too, but the idea is to find a focus for a while, to try and build up the number of quality articles the Project has produced.

Check Wikipedia:WikiProject Melbourne#Adopt an article to see how this section is used.

[edit] New Arizona-related articles on Wikipedia

Please feel free to list your new Arizona-related articles here (newer articles at the top, please). Any new articles that have an interesting or unusual fact in them should be suggested for the Did you know? box on the Main Wikipedia page. DYN has a 5 day time limit from the creation of the article, and a 1500 character (1.5 kilobyte) minimum size of the main article.

[edit] Arizona-related articles up for deletion

Please see Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Arizona for an up-to-date listing of Arizona-related articles which have been listed for deletion. You are encouraged to take part in any discussions which interest you.

[edit] Requests

Do you have any requests for project members? Add them here.

  • One more request is for the Cliff-rose , for it needs to be cleaned up and we need an expert on the subject. It is a plant of Arizona. If it appears red then go to Lynx lake, and look up Cliff Rose from there on please.Hey Joe what you know? (talk) 03:22, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
  • Casa Grande is a listed as a start page. If anyone knows any information on Casa Grande please help me expand this article. Thank youHey Joe what you know? (talk) 23:18, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
  • Prescott, Arizona is listed as a start page. Could someone explain what it needs to get to the next level? Or provide me a link that explains it? I have been involved in this page for several years.
  • Sedona, Arizona is one of the hottest tourist locations, second only to the Grand Canyon. I want more info included about my hometown, and its Majestic qualitys.
Anything specific that needs elaborating? I could research things a bit more if I had examples of what should be included. I read the article and it seems fairly thorough. Emphasising a town's "Magestic qualities" will make an article cross from encyclopedic to a Chamber of Commerce brochure. CascadiaTALK|HISTORY 22:02, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

Sedona has developed an odd formatting problem, whose cause isn't obvious to me. Scroll down to "Education", and you'll see that the "Edit" buttons for that section, and the two above, are lumped together there. I queried Wikipedia:Village pump (assistance) and got this advice:

It is caused by the six images listed very close to each other (in the edit view) in the 'demographics section'. Spreading those out over the text should solve the problem. ssepp(talk) 21:30, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
Anyone want to take this on? I'm not comfortable fussing with images. Thanks, Pete Tillman 05:27, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
I had a hack at it. There is simply no way to fit as many images in an article with small sections; I had to remove two pictures. I recommend that more text be added to the geography section—or to any other section, really—to be able to readd the pictures. Titoxd(?!? - cool stuff) 06:26, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
  • Just noticed that two historic hotels in Flagstaff did not have articles, so I created stubs for them. Please check out the Weatherford Hotel and Hotel Monte Vista articles and add to them in any way that you can. Dr. Cash 18:43, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
Well, the first one is a Registered Historic Place, and I added NRHP information to the article. The other, I can't find in NHRP system, does it go by any other name? Perhaps you could create/add to an article on the historic district that you say it is located within. The historic district itself would also be listed on List of Registered Historic Places in Arizona. doncram 02:17, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

Hopi needs serious attention, preferably from an expert -- ideally a Hopi. The existing article is confusing and almost certainly has some bad and/or misleading info. I did a bit, but I'm no expert <G>. TIA, Pete Tillman (talk) 21:25, 17 January 2008 (UTC), Rimrock, AZ

  • While making additions to the Homolovi Ruins State Park and Oracle State Park articles (and see the various talk pages while you're at it to discuss my additions), I noticed that the governing board of these state parks, Arizona State Parks, doesn't have an article. Unless anyone has any dissent (I'll give you guys a day or two), I'll create a stub, then list it as "to expand" on the to-do list. Then maybe I'll actually expand it :-) Tanthalas39 (talk) 02:28, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
  • Update: In process of creating stub for the Arizona State Parks board in my sandbox. References are hard to come by, I need to go down to the State Archives and see what I can get; I had a conversation with someone at the board and they referred me there. Tanthalas39 (talk) 23:28, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Yavapai County

I've just added a new section here on Land ownership and management, using Yavapai County as a "guinea pig", for information I think should be added to all Arizona counties (and most other counties in the western US, where public land ownership is important). Have a look and let me know what you think. Thanks, Pete Tillman (talk) 23:51, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
