WFIR is the only all-news radio station in Roanoke, Virginia. The WFIR antenna is located at Towers Mall, with the two towers literally surrounded by a shopping center in Southwest Roanoke.
WFIR is affiliated with the ABC Radio Network. Sister stations to WFIR include WXLK-FM (K92), WSLC-FM (Star Country) and WSLQ-FM (Q99). WFIR is owned by Mel Wheeler, Inc..

As of the Spring of 2007, notable syndicated programming includes Coast to Coast AM, Laura Ingraham, Neal Boortz, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Michael Savage, and Mark Levin. The station's local programming includes "Roanoke Valley's Morning News with Joey Self" and "Greg Roberts Live" weekday evenings.
