Villaputzu is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Cagliari in the Italian region Sardinia, located about 45 km northeast of Cagliari. It is located in a short plain created by the Flumendosa's mouth, next to the Sarrabus hill.
Villaputzu borders the following municipalities: Armungia, Arzana, Ballao, Escalaplano, Jerzu, Muravera, Perdasdefogu, San Vito, Ulassai, Villasalto.
Villaputz and the Sarrabus are considered the birthplace of the launeddas musical instrument.
