Vietnam first competed in the Olympic Games in 1952 as Republic of Vietnam until 1972. Then, they have competed under the Socialist Republic of Vietnam from 1980 onwards. Since their first Olympic Games in 1952, they have competed in every games apart from 1976 and 1984. They have never competed in the Winter Olympics.
