Since the last newsletter, the number of stub articles has continued to drop, while the total number of wrestling articles continues to grow. A list has been placed on the stub article subpage of stub articles of well-known wrestlers that should be fairly easy to improve. Please check it out and see what you can help with (even if you can only add a few details or a couple of references).

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:!mortalkombat.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:!mortalkombat.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 11:58, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:!mortalkombat.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:!mortalkombat.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:35, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Image:!mortalkombat.jpg
I have tagged Image:!mortalkombat.jpg as {{orphaned fairuse}}. In order for the image to be kept at Wikipedia, it must be included in at least one article. If this image is being used as a link target instead of displayed inline, please add {{not orphan}} to the image description page to prevent it being accidentally marked as orphaned again. Melesse (talk) 04:39, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Jim Finney
Hi. I am of course happy to leave the recentdeath template in this article; however, I can honestly say that this particular page is not under any threat. As one of many referee articles on my watchlist, I have constantly monitored its edits, and found them to be non-controversial, good faith, and constructive in nature. Just thought I'd mention this. Thanks. Ref (chew)(do) 19:42, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Tags
Ok, I don't know if you already know this stuff, but I guess I'll start by giving you a list of tage you can use on articles. Just put each of the following words into "{}" and you'll be able to tag articles for cleanup, in-universe citation, etc.
cleanup- place at the top of an article if you think it is badly written or inaccurate.
in-universe- place at the top of an article about a book or film if it uses names and phrases that someone who hadn't read the book or seen the film would understand. You can also use "book-in-universe" on an article about a book for a more specific tag.
trivia- place at the top of a trvia section in an article- Wikipedia doesn't like those, unless they are used in user pages.
fact- place at the end of a statement that you think is inaccurate. The code will produce a "citation needed" tag, which shows that you think the statement in question needs to be proven.
future television|type=episode- place this at the top of an article about a TV episode that hhasn't been aired yet. Do not use on articles about tv episodes have been aired in some countries but not in others.
future book- Place this at the top of an article about a book that hadn't been published yet
There are hundereds, hundereds more... go to Wikipedia:Template messages to find any specific one. AlmightyClam 16:33, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Nicole
Hi Pavlen, I see you tagged the article Nicole for speedy deletion here. The article had been vandalized, so it would have been a much better idea to revert to the previous non-vandalized version rather than tagging this article for deletion. Just a heads up. Thanks, Gwernol 18:30, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Shortsville, New York
Hey. Just checking if it was accident that you reverted the reversion I made in Shortsville, New York :) Because the reversion i made, was to prevent vandalism from 209.68.98.28. Thank you. Ilyushka88 (talk) 18:36, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- Mistakes happen. Just had to check. Ilyushka88 (talk) 18:44, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Re: Thanks
You're welcome! I noticed the message you got about trying to get a vandalised page deleted, so I thought two things might help:
1. Check WP:CSD for the Criteria for Speedy Deletion, this specifies which situations need a speedy deletion tag.
2. If you notice a vandalised edit, then go to that article's history. Check which edit is the vandalism by comparing each edit to the edit underneath. Once you find the right edit, click on undo. If it comes up with "cannot undo edit," then you'll have to edit the article the normal way, and delete the vandalism manually. If you do this, remember to put "reverting vandalism" into the edit summary box.
Hope this helps. I dont think I've ever used the word "edit" so many times in a post before :D AlmightyClam 09:05, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] 'Scuse Me
Hi, I was just wondering what the problem was with my edits. You reverted several of them. Cale (talk) 01:19, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Your improper use 'Speedy Delete' tags
Hello, I want to alert you to a problem with your use of 'Speedy Delete' tags, e.g. ({{db-bio}}, etc., as this is not the first time it's happened with your edits. Please hold off putting them on articles that have literally just been written, especially in subject areas with which you are unfamiliar.
Observe your last three: [1], [2], [3]. You added those within one minute of the article first being posted. None of them met the criteria for speedy delete. The first is a noted American football player, the second is a reasonably noted San Francisco restaurant owner, the third is a highly distinguished chemical engineer.
Slapping on a 'speedy delete' as soon as the first version of the article is published, is not helpful, can be very discouraging to new editors, and means that Wikipedia loses a potentially useful article, especially if an admin is not paying attention when they go through the day's collection of 'speedy deletes' (it happens, trust me.) Many new articles look very unpromising at first, take a lot of work to get right, need to have references found, etc. They need time, and they need the collaboration of more than one editor. For example, take a look at Aureliano in Palmira now and compare it to this rather dire beginning a month earlier.
Wikipedia will not self-destruct if an article of doubtful notability stays up for a few days. It's much better to tag a new article like that with {{notability}}, but only if you have serious doubts about its notability judged by a careful reading of the article and your own attempts to find evidence of notability. Return a week later and if nothing has happened, consider adding Prod instead. I'm asking for cooperation in this. You are a very inexperienced editor and should completely stop tagging articles for 'Speedy Delete' until you are thoroughly familiar with Wikipedia's policies, and until you are willing to slow down and take a thoughtful approach to tagging. It's not a contest or a game. It can have serious consequences both for editors writing articles and for Wikipedia in general. Best wishes, Voceditenore (talk) 07:56, 28 April 2008 UTC)
- Update As I was writing the above message, you also placed a 'speedy delete' tag on User:Themoridian/Warrington Canoe Club. This is a user page for an editor to write rough drafts of articles they are working on. Such pages are entirely legitimate. These tags must not be used on pages of this type. Note that you also added it to the page within minutes of it being created. I ask you once again to stop this. If you do not, I'm afraid I'll have to report the disruption you're causing. Voceditenore (talk) 09:40, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Ocey Snead
Why were edits to Ocey Snead page reverted? 165.189.169.190 (talk) 12:28, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Hi there
I noticed that your speedy deletion tags are becoming a bit of a problem. This is quite a serious problem for numerous reasons.
Remember, just because an article is badly written doesn't mean it neccesarily needs deleting. It might be best just to tag it with "cleanup" so that it can be improved, rather than just gotten rid of. Also, it might be a good idea to check the speedy deletion criteria again. If you have any questions about the criteria or speedy deletion in general, just ask! AlmightyClam

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Collared Dove.jpg
Thank you for uploading Image:Collared Dove.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. J Milburn (talk) 14:15, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
