Neil Albert Salonen

Neil Albert Salonen is president of the University of Bridgeport. He was a president of the U.S. Unification Church from 1972 to 1980, and has been a leader of Unification Movement projects since that time. Previous to his American presidency of the Unification Church, he was president of the Unificationist organization Freedom Leadership Foundation.[1]

Salonen attended Cornell University before dropping out to join the Unification Church. He graduated from the University of the State of New York with a BA in political science in 1980. He subsequently did graduate work at the George Washington University.[2]

In 2002, Salonen was selected to serve on the President's Leadership Group, "a body of higher education presidents and chancellors who have declared their commitment to student substance abuse prevention."[3]
By 2005, enrollments in the University of Bridgeport had risen 22%, and had expanded its graduate programs, since Salonen took office.[4]
