Mito Line

The Mito Line (水戸線 Mito-sen?) is a trunk railway line between Oyama and Kasama in Japan. 50.2 km long, the line is owned and operated by the East Japan Railway Company (JR East) as part of the Greater Tokyo Area rail network.
Mito Line is named from its constructor, Mito Railway, but it doesn't run in Mito City. But, some trains run between Oyama and Mito.

- 16 January 1889 - Mito Railway, a private railway company opened its line between Oyama Station to Mito Station.
- 1 March 1892 - Japan Railway annexed Mito Railway.
- 1 July 1895 - Tomobe Station was opened, and Joban Line connected with former Mito Railway line.
- 1 November 1906 - With Railway Nationalization Act, Japanese National Railways (JNR) nationalized Japan Railway.
- 12 October 1909 - JNR gave the name "Mito Line" for Oyama - Tomobe, and made Tomobe - Mito a par of Joban Line.
- 1 February 1967 - Electrified in all sections.
- 1 April 1987 - JNR was privatelized, and JR East succeeded Mito Line. Japan Freight Railway Company operated its train on this line.
