[edit] Simpsons characters images

Hello Kaizersoze,

Can you point me to where you got Simpsons images. I want to convert them to PNG format for better quality and smaller size. Thanks. --Berkut 04:19, 26 Nov 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Appology From z0manifest

Kaizersoze I like to deeply appologies, for I was assuming(Mother of all ???? ups word) with my version which is bought in the UK. I thought all other DVDs had the same content. Like millions of others around the world, 'a fan of the Simpsons' and saw a chance to add something to Wikipedia I couldn't resist but wanted to change it. Mind saw mistake whilst skim reading, instant thought,' MUST CHANGE!!!'. Once again I appologise.

I like to thank you for your free efforts to correcting and adding info to Wikipedia.

Appology is on my Discussion.

[edit] Wikipedia:Peer review/The Simpsons/archive4

Hi, I'm about to shift this to the archives. Are you still working on this or actioning it? I haven't seen a comment in a while! - Ta bu shi da yu 01:07, 3 Feb 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Simpsons DVDs release dates

Hi there. Out of interest, why did you remove the other release dates from The Simpsons DVDs page? I don't see why only the R1 dates should be in the article. After all, in the case of the first two seasons, they came out in the UK before they did in the US. BillyH 22:24, 12 May 2005 (UTC)

I removed them to simplify things. Since the sets are primarily designed for Region 1 (some came out earlier in other regions only for marketing reasons), and the cover artwork and descriptions in the page are all from the Region 1 releases (some regions, for instance, had different episodes on different discs on season one, which is why there's also an "Differences in other regions" section), I decided to just leave the Region 1 release dates, and if you'll notice I specified R1. But, if you really want to add other release dates, it wouldn't be fair not to include Australia, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Latin America, China, and wherever else these sets were released.

[edit] Worker and Parasite

hi Kaisersoze, thanks for uploading all those amazing images of The Simpsons show. I was wondering, if it is possible to get an image or a screencap of the "Worker and Parasite" show? I would appreciate it if you got back to me on that, thanks. Endut! Hoch Hech! Gryffindor 14:17, August 6, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] List of The Simpsons TV ads

Hi. I think that the TV ads should be kept in List of The Simpsons TV ads, and removed from List of The Simpsons episodes, since they're not actually episodes, and since the episode list is already a very long article. What do you think? Cheers! -- BD2412 talk 00:05, August 15, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] List of The Simpsons episodes by theme Vfd

Hi! Since you created this article, I thought I should let you know that I have nominated it on Vfd.

No ill will or anything, my reasons for nominating it are explained there. I just thought I should let you know, in case you don't have the article on your watch list.

[edit] User:Kaizersoze/Images

Fair-use images, such as the ones on User:Kaizersoze/Images, cannot be used on User pages. I've deleted the aforementioned page, since its only contents were these fair use images. Ral315 (talk) 01:45, 10 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Screencap request

I know you are majorly involved in Simpsons related articles, though I don't know if you screencap for the episode articles... If you do, could you cap the episode "Fear of Flying", in the scene where Homer winds up in the Cheers style bar? I'd love to add such a screenshot to the main Cheers article, which I'm currently working on. Staxringold 22:49, 14 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Infobox Film and the rating field

Please feel free to contribute to the discussion about it at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Films. There's a discussion topic about the subject at the bottom of that page, and that page usually gets more replies than the template's talk page. - Bobet 23:39, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] My calculations on the 1m pool

I estimate you're going to win the 1m pool, the second most likely being Alba, who guessed Feb 27th, followed by whoever guessed march 1st. Kevin Baastalk 00:14, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Simpsons infobox

Wow, this infobox is complicated. I'm just wondering, is there any reason to have the {{{show_title}}} parameter in Template:Infobox Simpsons season episode list? Presumably this isn't used anywhere but on Simpsons episodes, so it could be replaced with 'The Simpsons'? Flowerparty 05:14, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, I must've left it in when I was designing the infobox, modifying it from an already existing one. So yeah, it should be fine if you change it. As for the entire thing being so complicated, it's so I could get everything looking nice and color-coded properly :)
(notice how it gives elements in the infobox the correct color, just by specifying season = X in the main "front-end" template)
--Kaizersoze 06:01, 21 March 2006 (UTC)
Ok, I've changed it. I must say I do like the template - it's much prettier than those old ones. And I'm surprised no-one's thanked you for doing it before now, so have a flower. :) Flowerparty 21:47, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use

From your talk page, it seems you don't have a great understanding of our image use policy and philosophy. The DVD cover images do not add significantly to the "List of The Simpsons episodes", and are serving more of a decorative purpose. Fair use claims could be made for use in The Simpsons DVDs, where they are actually illustrating the subject of the article (one of the requirements, see WP:FU). The fairuse tag is not a carte blanche for uploading copyrighted images to Wikipedia. ed g2stalk 20:13, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

Gee, then I wonder what a page like this is doing on Wikipedia? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:DVD_covers
By your logic, Wikipedia is inherently a fair use violation, just because of the way it works. -Kaizersoze 20:19, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
It is automatically created by the (fairly recently implemented) category system. Possible software fixes to prevent this have been discussed. ed g2stalk 20:24, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
Look, I'm not going to continue arguing something as idiotic as thumbnails of DVD cover art on an episode list. There are literally thousands of other pages on Wikipedia which contain much larger galleries of dvd covers, movie posters, album cover art, and all kinds of other fair use images. I also noticed your post about the South Park episode list in Wikipedia_talk:Fair use. Seeing as that list was nominated and voted a featured list, I think it's safe to say that your calims don't have any merit. If dozens of Wikipedia contributors voted to make List of South Park episodes a featured list, then other episode lists should follow its example with DVD covers and screenshots for every episode. I don't see how you can argue that in any way. -Kaizersoze 20:59, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
"Seeing as that list was nominated and voted a featured list, I think it's safe to say that your calims don't have any merit." - there is absolutely no logic in that statement. ed g2stalk 22:12, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
"If dozens of Wikipedia contributors voted to make List of South Park episodes a featured list, then other episode lists should follow its example with DVD covers and screenshots for every episode." Hear, hear!--Ryan! 08:53, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] question

i watched "Pranksta Rap" and Kirk Van Houten is wearing an eye patch, did he lost his eye?

[edit] Image naming

Could you use episode names instead of production numbers for the simpsons images? I think it looks cleaner and less confusing.

I do use episode names for the promotional artwork and screenshots that go in the episode articles. I only use production numbers for the promo images that have to be cropped to 4:3 to fit in the episode list (which I started doing for season 17)
Example: Image:Marge_and_Homer_Turn_a_Couple_Play.png vs. Image:HABF16.png

[edit] Stco23

You are going to have to put DVD cover on that Simpsons Season's 1-5 picture, Because I was reminded to put on the same thing everytime I take a picture of a DVD and upload it. By the way, One person has been putting that picture off the Simpsons DVD article. Don't worry I reminded him not to and if he keeps on doing it I will report him. I hope you get this message. Thank You.--Stco23 21:09, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Simpsons

Hey, are you deleting all these tables? I reverted one change by accident. Kaisershatner 19:38, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

No, I'm moving them to the bottom of the page, because the many different airdates are probably the least important information on the episodes. -Kaizersoze 19:40, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
Cool, sorry to bother you. I was RC patrolling and moved in too fast. If you check my contribs you can see which episode change of yours I reverted. Again, sorry. Kaisershatner 19:47, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Simpsons movie poster

Did you create the Simpsons movie poster image or did you source it from somewhere else? --Kronecker 10:13, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

The poster was released by 20th Century Fox, while the actual image source is Apple Trailers. -Kaizersoze 20:49, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use debate regarding television screencaps

Currently, there is a debate on Talk:List of Lost episodes regarding whether or not use of a 1/30th stillframe visual excerpt next to a list of audiovisual works (such as List of Lost episodes or List of Simpsons episodes) is in accordance with WP:Fair use, and has even resulted in the protection of the page (involving User:Ed_g2s).

If you have any opinions regarding fair use on the List of Lost episodes page, please feel free to express them as I believe these two pages are sister projects.

[edit] Smartboy814

I noticed that you reverted vandalism by Smartboy814 on several articles about future airings of the Simpsons. He also has a bad habit of adding unsubstantiated ages to character profiles that I've reverted here [1], here [2], here [3], here [4], and here [5]. I've warned him about it a couple of times, and these types of contributions seem to be all that he has offered here so far. If you should see any more vandalism please report him to the Administrator Intervention Against Vandalism page [6]. Thanks. Danielross40 00:31, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Simpsons DVDs

I respect your attempt to improve the DVD article for the Simpsons, but I think that you should maintain a consistancy among the seasons (which I admit, already isn't quite there and needs some cleaning). Mainly in your numbering of the episodes instead of bulleting them. That's just fine to do, but it should probably be done for all seasons. I'm guessing you did this just to be able to do the commentary table? I'll be honest. I don't think we even need to mention who comments on the episodes besides saying "the following people do commentary tracks on some episodes: [list]". If we start listing commentators and all the easter eggs AND all the episodes and discs - why don't we just have an article for each season? It's getting to be too much info for a general encyclopedia article on the DVDs (it's not an ad for the set after all). since the 'who's commentarying' is info contained in the DVD set itself (I believe it's written in the books as well as mentioned on the commentaries themselves), I don't think we needs that much detail on an already massive article. Perhaps you should look at splitting the DVDs into an article on each season? Then there'd be far more room for that kind of detail, and it would take a lot of the pressure off this article. Those are my thoughts; I'm certainly not going to impede what you're doing, but I thought I'd voice my concern about it to you. Feel free to respond here; I'll keep it on my watch list. Cheers TheHYPO 01:30, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

Actually, the names of all the commentators aren't listed in any of the DVDs past season 2. The 1st and 2nd seasons had the names listed in the language menu for each episode, not in the booklet; and the booklet in every season after that only tells that there is a commentary for each episode, not who's in it. (The reason why season 8 was easy to add is because the list was published by Fox in their release info for this DVD) So I think if anything, the list of commentators would be the most valuable thing for anyone looking for a handy reference for these DVDs. In fact, this was one of the things I was thinking of originally adding when I created this article back in 2004, but never got around to adding it. Anyway, the table I'm working on now could easily go in the place of the episode list if article length is a problem. --Kaizersoze 04:27, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
I don't think either is entirely useless, but I think that the info on each DVD set is getting large enough that they might warrent their own article (if not 'simpsons: season 1 dvd', then 'the simpsons: Season set DVDs' for all the sets. Remember, there could ultimately (albiet in a while) be at least 19 of these sets. That will be a massive page. If each set had its own page, you wouldn't need to make the 'x' ' 'x'... type table. You could do a basic |1.|title|commentators|any other info| type table entry for each episode... That's just my thoughts. Your table seems like if it were implimented for all the seasons, it would get somewhat confusing with some seasons having a wider variety of commentators. I dunno. I'm just thinking the article needs to be cut back somehow. I'm also skeptical of the fact that virtually EVERY DVD release of 4 episodes has its image on the page (in some cases lengthening the page). Maybe it's these 'single' releases that need their own article. I really don't know, I'm just trying to make it easier to use. TheHYPO 13:57, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Simpson comics

[edit] Removal of my suggestion

I would like your opinion about the notion that I was "spamming" you by leaving you a message on your Talk page (which was, in turn, deleted by another user who determined it to be spam). Please comment, if you'd like, under my question for the folks at WikiProject Spam. Seems to me that they're going a bit too far censoring Wikipedia users from even TALKING to each other on a Talk page, if there's an external link involved. [edit] Please do not upload images in the GIF format

Hello and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that you've uploaded a couple of images in the GIF format. In the future, please save GIF images in the PNG format before converting (see Wikipedia:Preparing images for upload). PNG images almost always have a smaller file size, which decreases the amount of time they take to load. There are a bunch of other advantages to the PNG format such as lossless compression that you can read about on its Wikipedia article. —Remember the dot (t) 22:14, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies Filmography

Hey, I was just wondering how you made those little icons and what's the difference between putting those or putting the pink or blue L and M? Can't you just use the icons for all the shorts? • I was in the process of changing them all to icons, but it takes time. If you want to do it instead, go right ahead.

[edit] New Cingular/AT&T logo

Where did you find this image? I have not noted it in any of the source material, nor any of the press material from Cingular or AT&T. (fair disclosure, I work in a television newsroom in Atlatna, where both BellSouth and Cingular are headquartered, and have seen much of the transition material relating to the takeover and name change relating to both companies) --Mhking 13:41, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Advice on uploading images

Hello!

Thanks for uploading some pictures to Wikipedia. I wanted to make sure you were aware of some of the requirements and good practices for uploaded images.

  • Pick an image name.
When uploading an image, pick a file name that is descriptive, and unique. Remember that many images may be uploaded about the same topic, and remember that names are case sensitive.
  • Source the image.
On the image description page, explain where the image came from. If you created the image yourself, then say so. If it's from the web, give a URL. If it's a screenshot of a movie or game, or a scan from a book, give the title.
  • Provide copyright and license information.
This part is a little bit trickier, but it's very important. The copyright of the image generally belongs to whomever created it.
If it's a photograph you took, or an image you created (modifying an image that already exists doesn't count) in software like Photoshop or GIMP, then you own the copyright. To upload it to Wikipedia, you must agree to license it under the GFDL (which allows anyone to use it, but requires that they give credit to the original author and requires that any further edit to the image be licensed under the GFDL as well) or release it into the public domain (which allows anyone to use it for any purpose without restriction.) Do this by placing an appropriate tag on the image description page, like {{GFDL}} or {{PD-self}}. Be sure to mention that you created the image. If you're using {{PD-self}}, you may also want to use {{NoRightsReserved}}, since there is some dispute as to whether one may grant items into the public domain.
If you didn't create the image, or the copyright somehow belongs to another party (like a screenshot, which you might "create", but the copyright belongs to the author of the movie or video game), then you need to find another tag that describes the copyright status of the image. Images used on Wikipedia need to be free for our use and the use of sites which reproduce our content. This means that images cannot have a restriction such as "only for use by Wikipedia", or "for non-commercial use only", or "for educational use". Images without a free license may be usable in certain articles under fair use, but such a use should be justified on the image description page.
  • Describe the image.
To another reader, the image may not be immediately understood. A caption in an article doesn't explain the image to a visitor who sees it on its image page. Put a brief explanation of what is in the image on the image description page, similar to what you might include in a caption on an article.

[edit] Image sources

Hey, currently The Simpsons is up for FAR because the images do not have sources, we have replaced all of them apart from Image:Simpsons on Tracey Ullman.png and Image:Simpsons cast.png, you were the uploader of the first image, and I believe the uploader of the original second image. If you could provide an exact URL source for the images that would be good. If not, then replacement images from different sites will have to be used. Thanks. Gran2 07:07, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

Actually The Tracey Ullman one is now done, if you do have any idea where the second one came from, or where a new version can be found it would be greatly appreciated. Gran2 11:18, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Simpson

Hi! I'm an italian wikipedia customer and I'd ask you how you are received the images of simpson, from the 20th century fox site, because I'd insert these images on the italian wikipedia. If you would, you can answer me here Excuse me for my bad english. Thanks :)

[edit] Adobe Creative Suite 3 (CS3) icons

Hi! I have been keeping an eye on the Adobe CS3 articles and I noticed you helped upload many high quality CS3 program icons. I would like to tell you a location where you can obtain higher resolution icons for these programs:

If you wish and have the time to do so, have a look at these (zoom in 800% on Page 5), and upload these icons onto Wikipedia? Thanks! Pikablu0530 12:24, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

  • Those are very poorly compressed, with weird edges along all the shadows, they're not higher quality. The ones I uploaded I got directly from the .icns file inside the app package for each of the programs in Mac OS, so they're probably as high quality as they're gonna get.

[edit] Image:FOX_logo.svg

Hi, I'm looking for the source of an image you uploaded: Image:FOX_logo.svg. Is that a reproduction of the network logo, or did you find the image somewhere? If the latter, do you have a source for the file? As I'm sure you're aware, administrators are tagging and/or removing fair use images, and this one has been tagged for no fair use rationale. I'd like to prevent it from being deleted. Thanks much. dhett (talk contribs) 05:44, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Matt Groening image

The image of Matt Groening at home that you uploaded has a false license. The source clearly shows its under a completely different license to the one you uploaded it as being. The source shows that its a non-commercial image, from CC 3.5, which can't be used here. Gran2 15:13, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

  • Also, the Disney strike image is cc3.0-non-commercial, not allowable on wikipedia. I removed it from the article and marked the image as copyvio. Please be more careful with what you upload, and the licenses! Thanks --Janke | Talk 18:12, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
    • Um, so why exactly is a creative commons license not allowed on wikipedia?
      • There are many different "Creative Commons" licenses, probably numbering in the hundreds these days. Of them, only those that permit unrestricted copying, modification, and distribution are acceptable on Wikipedia. The images you uploaded have Creative Commons licenses that prohibit commercial use. --Carnildo 02:33, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
        • The images I uploaded have the same exact attribution-noncommerical-sharealike license as almost all the other creative commons images on wikipedia have, just with a newer version of the license (3.0 as opposed t 2.5), so I have no idea what you're talking about.

[edit] Verizon FiOS availability article

A tag has been placed on Verizon FiOS availability, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

G11 - advertisement about availability of Verizon FiOS service in various U.S. markets

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet very basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Lwalt ♦ talk 01:08, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:The_Simpsons-Jeff_Albertson.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:The_Simpsons-Jeff_Albertson.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BigrTex 22:23, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Illustrator cs3.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 18:59, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Non-free use disputed for Image:Dreamweaver cs3.png

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Dreamweaver cs3.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted after seven days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:31, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image source problem with Image:Warner Bros.png

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Warner Bros.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:39, 2 May 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. asenine t/c\r (fc: f2abr04) 19:39, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
