[edit] ClemHill
Re Talk:Clem Hill#Comments, can you please check whether the 98 minute 100s are the fastest by Australian captains ? Tintin 14:44, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] I saw this and thought of you !?
A paragraph has appeared in the South Western Main Line article giving the impression that the SDJR was a joint LSWR/GWR line. Yes. Oh, my. Will you tell them or shall I? Or shall we leave it to see how many nanoseconds it lasts? Thoughts? Britmax (talk) 23:00, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] The 1902 Australians
Thanks. :) That's much appreciated. I should in fairness point out that Sam Vimes did the first 70% or so, but when it seemed that he was unlikely to return to the article in the forseeable future I decided that it merited being completed, hopefully to the same high standard that he had established. [edit] Murder
Should "possibly murdered cricketers" be changed to "suspicious deaths" or some such ? Hookes is again the problem, he is not "possibly murdered". Tintin 06:54, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
- Does the Wisden say anything about Umakant Ph(or F)ate (pronounced Faa-tey) (http://www.telegraphindia.com/1060206/asp/calcutta/story_5808883.asp ) ? Tintin 12:04, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] South Gloucestershire
Is, I recollect, in a 'shadow county'. Bob aka Linuxlad (talk) 22:58, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
- The trouble with administrative area is that it could be two civil parishes, which is nothing special especially for a river. Could try boundary between Glos County and South Glos UA, part of the former county of Avon. Bob aka Linuxlad (talk) 14:32, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Portal:Cricket/Anniversaries
Well done! I saw there was one left yesterday and deliberately left it to give you the honour since you've put such work into this. Thanks again. —Moondyne click! 23:18, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the additions. I don't think the reviewer is in any hurry to finish this, as long as we continue to actively edit the article. I have very little on style, even less on personalty and nothing on his parents, wife etc. I have been told he was a bit of a "recluse" in his later years but I don't have a source for that. Cheers, Mattinbgn\talk 22:55, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
- As an Australian would say, "No worries"! Fresh eyes on a problem never hurt. The content on personality you added is fantastic and has a real ring of authenticity about it; complaints about the weather and the beer and misunderstanding of English social conventions are a commonplace of the Australian experience in the UK, although perhaps not so much as in the past.
- Regarding the remaining outstanding items on the review; I have had no luck tracking down details of his family life or stories about his military service. No doubt they would be included in an obituary somewhere but I am three hours by car from the nearest (decent) library that would be likely to have the Sydney Morning Herald on microfiche. I certainly can't find an online obit. I propose to contact the reviewer and let him know that this is it for the article, at least for now. I will drive three hours for FA status but not for GA! Cheers and thanks again, Mattinbgn\talk 11:03, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
- Great find, but you are showing your age a little though! The Testimonial is possibly better placed in the English cricket section but it reads well where it is as well. I am heading down to Melbourne this ANZAC Day weekend and if I get a chance I will go to the State Library of Victoria and see if I can find an obituary somewhere. Cheers, Mattinbgn\talk 21:08, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Take away the "notability" tag if you want, as it has proper citations and such. Yojimbo501 (talk) 21:10, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Invincibles advert
I don't know much about them either, which is why I broke it! I have reverted to the last good version which fixes the immediate problem and I will ask the creator (Blnguyen) to update it in the correct manner. Cheers, Mattinbgn\talk 23:01, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] George Brann
Hi - could you look at this article and review the Cricket section. As with my other attempts at writing about cricketers, its based on the Wisden obituary, so may need tweaking a bit. Cheers. --Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 06:45, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Fred Holland
Thank you. I was worried that I might have overdone the statistics. It's occurred to me that a player's season by season figures would be better in the form of a table. If I was capable of creating templates, I'd be tempted to make one for that. JH (talk page) 08:44, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
- I've always been something of a "stat rat", which may have coloured my attitude. Thee's nothing that I like better than a nice table of data. :) Incidentally, I suspect that it may have been the decline of Abel that led to Holland getting more opportunities, even though he wasn't that successful, but to confirm that would have needed work verging on OR. JH (talk page) 08:56, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Ode
Want to do something exciting?
Do some citing!
Or if you'd rather be a doormat,
You could always fix some formats.
I'd certainly be grateful,
And it would be jolly fateful,
If Bradman won back his star,
That he lost at FAR.
Cheers, --Dweller (talk) 13:11, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Oops, hadn't spotted it was a redlink before posting; thanks for the heads up. I would've been fine with you yourself doing it, really, as you clearly knew what I meant. :) Regards, AllynJ (talk | contribs)
