[edit] My Music Chart
My Singles Chart
I Created this chart in 1990 with some help from my older sister Carmella. However I have little information on songs which charted between 1990 and 1999. I have a lot more info of songs which charted in the 2000s, and only have a handful of chart records on songs which charted during 1990 and 1999. At the end of each year I compile a Top 50 of the year, year-end singles chart.
My Albums Chart
I created this chart in 1990 also, but like the singles chart have little data on albums which charted between 1990 and 1999. I have more data on albums which charted in the 2000s, but the most on albums which charted between 2006 to the present day.
The Pop Singles Chart
In 2007 I created an alternative singles chart which I named the "Pop Chart", which is meant to mean "Popularity Chart". Singles which have reached #1 on the singles chart upon debut are not eligible to chart on the Pop chart, unless the song is a big hit worldwide, "Umbrella" by Rihanna for example. Songs which have not yet charted on the singles chart are also eligible to chart on the Pop chart. The charts are changed every Friday and Sunday (sometimes Monday), but I count each change as a week. The first number-one on this chart was "4 In The Morning" by Gwen Stefani.
Download Chart
Positions on my download chart are based on the points I award singles. The single with the most increase in points each week is the number-one single for that week on the download chart.
Airplay Chart
Positions on my Airplay Chart are determined by how many times I play a song each day until the charts are changed again, and how many times I hear it during each week on the radio.
Quarters
A year in music (on my chart) is divided into quarters so #1 songs are listed in Quarters of the year. A list of what month falls under what quarter is shown below.
| Quarter | Months |
|---|---|
| First Quarter | January-April |
| Second Quarter | May-June |
| Third Quarter | July-August |
| Fourth Quarter | September-December |

[edit] 2007 Summary
The year was particularly successful for the following artists:
- Fergie who earned her second and third #1 singles on the chart with her singles "Glamorous", and her record breaking single "Big Girls Don't Cry", which broke the record for the longest running number-one in my chart's history with 17 weeks at the top. Fergie later enjoyed more success when Clumsy" the fifth single from her #1 album The Dutchess peaked at #2, becoming her fifth consecutive top 2 single. Fergie appeared four times on the 2007 Year-End Edition of my chart at position #44 with Fergalicious, #19 with Clumsy, #6 with Glamorous, and #1 with "Big Girls Don't Cry.
- Akon who earned his first top ten album when his second studio album, "Konvicted" reached #2 on the albums chart, following the success of its four singles. This was a substancial improvement on the dissapointing peak of his previous album, Trouble which peaked at #36 in 2004. Previously, Akon had failed to achieve any top ten singles on the chart when his singles all reached low positions. "Locked Up" reached #49, "Lonely" reached #41, and "Belly Dancer" reached #46. However in 2006 with the release of Smack That featuring Eminem, Akon earned his first top ten single, when it peaked at #2 for two consecutive weeks, also becoming his first top 3 single. The second single, "I Wanna Love You" featuring Snoop Dog performed just as well and is his most successful song on the chart to date, peaking at #2 for three consecutive weeks, and ranked #18 on the 2007 Year-End Edition of my chart. The album's third single, "Don't Matter" debuted at #6 and later peaked at #3, becoming Akon's third/third consecutive top 3 single. The album's fourth single "Sorry, blame it on me" reached #27 on the chart, failing to continue the top 3 success achieved by its predecessors.
- Justin Timberlake who earned his second #1 single when "What Goes Around...Comes Around peaked at #1 for six consecutive weeks. In addition his album Futuresex/Lovesounds ascended back to #1 totalling to 13 non-consecutive weeks atop the albums chart. Justin would continue to enjoy success when his single, "Lovestoned" debuted and peaked at #3, becoming the album's fourth consecutive top 3 hit.
- Gwen Stefani whose second studio album, The Sweet Escape peaked at #1 for 13 consecutive weeks, following the success of the album's first and only #1 single, "The Sweet Escape", which peaked at #1 for an impressive 10 consecutive weeks, becoming Gwen's third chart topper. "The Sweet Escape" was ranked at #2 on my 2007 Year-End chart, behind Fergie with "Big Girls Don't Cry" and ahead of Rihanna with "Umbrella". The album's next single, "4 In The Morning peaked at #2 for two consecutive weeks and was ranked at #14 on my 2007 Year-End chart. The album's fourth single, Now that you got it debuted and peaked at #4 but quickly descended down the chart.
- Avril Lavigne whose third studio album "The Best Damn Thing" peaked at #1 for four consecutive weeks, and is to date her second most successful album, behind her debut "Let Go". The album's lead single, "Girlfriend" peaked at #1 for 6 consecutive weeks becoming her fourth chart topper, and her most successful to date, despite the fact that her debut single, "Complicated" spent one more week at the top. A remix version of "Girlfriend" featuring Lil Mama was considered a seperate single to the original, and peaked at #2 for four consecutive weeks. The album's third single, "When You're Gone" debuted at #2 and eventually reached #1 for a week, becoming her fifth chart topper and second from the album. The album's fourth single, "Hot" peaked at #5 and spent 22 weeks on the chart.
- Timbaland whose album, "Timbaland Presents: Shock Value" peaked at #1 for 13 consecutive weeks. "Give It to Me" featuring Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake peaked at #2 for 6 consecutive weeks. The album's next single, "The Way I Are debuted at #9 and eventually peaked at #1 for 6 consecutive weeks, becoming Timbaland's first #1 single, and was ranked at #8 on my 2007 Year-End chart. Another single entitled "Throw It on Me" peaked at #38. The album's fourth single, "Apologize debuted at #6 and peaked at #1 for 6 consecutive weeks, becoming Timbaland's second number-one single, and was ranked at #7 on my 2007 Year-End chart. The album's next single, "Scream" featured Keri Hilson and Nicole Scherzinger and peaked at #16.
- Rihanna whose third studio album, Good Girl Gone Bad reached #1 for ten consecutive weeks. The album's lead single, "Umbrella" featuring Jay Z peaked at #1 for 9 consecutive weeks becoming Rihanna's third chart topper. The album's next single "Shut Up and Drive" peaked at #2 for 3 non-consecutive weeks. The album's third single, Hate that I Love You featured NeYo, and debuted and peaked at #1 becoming Rihanna's fourth #1 single, second from Good Girl Gone Bad.
[edit] 2008 Summary
First Quarter of 08 (January-April)
- The first number-one single of the year was "Here I Am" by Australian Idol 2007 Winner Natalie Gauci. The year has already been extremely successful for UK singer, Leona Lewis when her single, "Bleeding Love" peaked at #1 for ten consecutive weeks, and later re-claimed the number-one position for a further two weeks, totalling to 12 non-consecutive weeks at the top. Later in late March, "Bleeding Love" rose to number-one for a further two weeks totalling to fourteen weeks at number-one. This is the second longest run at number-one for any single, behind only Fergie and Big Girls Don't Cry which spent 17 weeks at number-one. Britney Spears also returned on the chart with her new single, Piece of me which debuted and peaked at #1 for a week, becoming her first number-one single since 2004's "Toxic". Rihanna also hit #1 with her single, "Don't Stop the Music" which spent two-consecutive weeks at number-one, becoming the third #1 single from Good Girl Gone Bad and becoming the fifth number-one single of her career overall. 2007 Winner of American Idol, Jordin Sparks scored her first number-one single on the chart when her single "Tattoo" debuted and peaked at #1 for a total of three non-consecutive weeks. Chris Brown also returned to the chart with his new single "With You", following the top ten success of previous single "Kiss Kiss" which peaked at #9. "With You" surpassed the success of its predecessor to become the album's most successful single, and also became the most successful single of his career on the chart, spending eleven non-consecutive weeks at the top. Previously, "Run It!" had held this title in 2005 as his most successful with two weeks at the top. This achievement also makes Brown the first and (so far) only male artist to reach/and or surpass the 10-week mark.
- These four months were also successful for artists such as Nicole Scherzinger whose second single "Baby Love" featuring Will.i.am peaked at #2 for three consecutive weeks, becoming her first top 3 hit as a solo artist. The Veronicas second single, Untouched peaked at #3, becoming the second consecutive top 3 hit from Hook Me Up. Justin Timberlake earned his fifth and sixth consecutive top 3 hits respectively when "Summer Love" reached #3 and "Until the end of time" reached #2. Delta Goodrem broke the chart record for the biggest jump in my chart's history when her single "Believe Again" re-entered the chart at #40 only to soar to #9 the following week, and eventually reached a new peak of #2. Soulja Boy and the Last Good Night both earned top 3 hits on the charts when their singles, "Crank that (Soulja Boy)" and "Pictures of you" peaked at #2 and #3 respectively. Hilary Duff also earned two top 3 hits from her album Dignity when "Stranger" reached #2 and "Play with Fire" reached #3.
Second Quarter of 08 (May-June)

Jordin Sparks debuted in the top 5 at #5 with her new single, "No Air", a duet with Chris Brown. "No Air" knocked Madonna off the top spot to earn Jordin Sparks her second consecutive #1 single on the chart, and Chris Brown's third. Usher entered the chart at #5 with his new single "Love in This Club" featuring Young Jeezy. "Love In This Club" has since peaked at #4, and has reached #2 on the Pop chart. Simple Plan peaked at #2 on the singles chart with their new single, "Your Love Is a Lie". Rihanna entered the chart at #21 with her new single "Take A Bow" which has since peaked at #2, becoming the fifth consecutive top 3 hit from Good Girl Gone Bad.
