[edit] Chart performance
Konvicted debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 chart, selling over 284,000 copies.[1] The album was able to stay within the top twenty for 28 consecutive weeks, but eventually started to drop slowly. On its sixth week, it broke the one million mark,[2] though it was certified platinum two weeks later. In its tenth week it had a total of 1.3 million copies.[3] The album was officially certified double platinum on its sixteenth week.[4] 2 million records were sold after twenty weeks.[5] After thirty weeks on the chart it had moved 2.4 million units.[6] Currently on its thirty seventh week, it occupies the number 52 spot on the chart and has sold 2.7 million (2,709,182) records.[7]
The album's chart performance was equally as impressive worldwide, as it sold well over 297,000 copies and took the number two spot in its debut on the United World Chart. Konvicted broke the one million mark in only five short weeks. In its tenth week it had already sold 1.7 million copies. After four months it had already sold 2.4 million. After 30 weeks on the chart, worldwide sales were strong with 3.6 million copies. The album's last appearance on the chart was it's thirty second week, where it totaled 4 million (3,986,100).[8]
The album became the second best selling record of the year on the Billboard 200 charts.
[edit] Deluxe Edition
Akon Deluxe Platinum Edition of Konvicted was released on August 28, 2007 and October 1 in UK [9]. It featured three new songs including the hit single "Sorry, Blame It on Me". The new album will also include "Rush" featuring Kardinal Offishall which will appear in the summer blockbuster Rush Hour 3. The third song is a remix to "Don't Matter", which is the remix featured in the video near the end. The new Konvicted includes a documentary of Akon where visits his homeland, Senegal. Music videos of the hit singles "Smack That", "I Wanna Love You" and "Don't Matter" came with the set as well.[10]
