Johmbolaya is the user name for John Book, a journalist, music artist, and producer, based in Washington State. The name is a hybrid of his first name "John" and jambalaya, a reference to his appreciation of music from New Orleans. It is also a play on the Hawaiian Pidgin phrase "bu lie ya", (or someone who is a liar, or "full of crap"), similar in origin to how it is used by Hawaiian comedian Bu La`ia.
