• Advanced Placement courses: Calculus, Statistics, U.S. History, Biology, World History, English Language, English Literature, Photography, Chemistry, and Physics.
• Pre-AP: Classes in English, History of the Pacific Region, World History, Science, and Biology for 9th and 10th graders.
• AVID: (Advancement Via Individual Determination) a college-preparatory class focusing on goal-orientation and organizational skills.

Federal Way is in the North Division of the South Puget Sound League in Washington's West Central District. The most recent successes in the State tournaments include a 1st place finish in 2001 and 2nd place finishes in 2000, '02 and '03 by the Baseball team. In 2006 FWHS Left the South Division of the South Puget Sond League (SPSL) and joined the North SPSL. Also in the 2007 season the Boys Soccer Team got second in washington state. The 2007-2008 boys basketball team placed 2nd at the state tournament.

• Daniel Spillner (MLB baseball player)- graduated in 1969, and was drafted by the San Diego Padres as a pitcher. Also played for Chicago and Cleveland.[1]
• Michael Dickerson- former NBA player
• Donny Marshall- former NBA player
• Corey Dillon - Former NFL player for the Bengals and the New England Patriots
• Travis Ishikawa- MLB (Giants)
• Lake Dawson- former NFL player with the Kansas City Chiefs, now a Director of Player Personal with the NFL's Tennesee Titans
• Ross Shafer- Comedian and television actor, most notably featured on Almost Live!
• Shaun Bodiford - NFL player for the Green Bay Packers
