  • "Of course I'm a little bit perturbed whenever I see any of my Shakespearean-quality words edited by another user." - found this quote unsigned (and I didn't want to look it up).
  • "There is NO ONE IN CHARGE of this asylum. No ultimate authority except JIMBO, who is on vacation forever!" -by Beckjord, a comment at the talk page of Erik Beckjord. I added the exclamation mark at the end. It was a period.

[edit] Popups tool

Congratulations on being made an admin! I thought you might like to know of a javascript tool that may help in your editing by giving easy access to many admin features. It's described at Wikipedia:Tools#Navigation_popups. The quick version of the installation procedure for admins is paste the following into User:DanielCD/monobook.js:

// [[User:Lupin/popups.js]] - please include this line

document.write('<script type="text/javascript" src="'
             + 'http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Lupin/popups.js'
             + '&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript&dontcountme=s"></script>');

popupAdminLinks=true;

Give it a try and let me know if you find any glitches or have suggestions for improvements! Lupin 01:48, 8 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Tools n' Stuff

If an article needs references but you are unable to find them yourself, you can tag the article with the templates {{unreferenced}} or {{Primarysources}}. It is often more useful to indicate specific statements that need references, by tagging those statements with {{fact}}, which can be placed in the same place you would place an inline reference.

  • Talk to this hand:

  • {{Citation needed}} = {{fact}}
  • {{talkheader}}
  • {{todo}}
  • {{Book reference | Author = [[]] | Title = | Publisher= Macmillan | Year = | ID = }}
  • <tt>typewriter font</tt> typewriter font
  • <code>code font</code> code font
  • <math>\sum_{n=0}^\infty \frac{x^n}{n!}</math>\sum_{n=0}^\infty \frac{x^n}{n!}
  • Superscript: x2 or x &s u p 2; x2 or x²
  • & nbsp; - non-breaking space (rm space!!)
  • <br clear="all"> - to make sure tables etc don't overlap
  • ;Bold :Indented next line

[edit] User:Beh-nam

I like to report vandalism made on Ahmad Shah Durrani article. User:Zanjeer12, User:Beh-nam and User:Tajik are probably the same person who had just vandalized the article on Ahmad Shah Durrani by adding "Kus Kuse Pashtoon Bezan Jigar Khoon" under Ahmad Shah's poetry section, which are curse words to ethnic Pashtun people. He/she also removed images of Ahmad Shah Durrani that are found on WikiCommons. Can you please revert all the edits made by this user or fix the vandalism? Also, please warn this user User:Beh-nam (A.K.A. User:Tajik, User:Ariana310) so that he/she stops vandalising other articles in the future, as he/she has a long history of doing this. Thank you! --202.134.132.18 07:20, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Two of them look like long-time users. I'll have to find some time to look at it more closely later. --DanielCD 15:34, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks!

Hey thanks for fixing my user page like two months ago! you must have done such a good job because i didnt even notice til just now :) Evaunit666 02:19, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

No problem. --DanielCD 16:41, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Still grateful to have an ally who knows about locus of control

I just wished to thank you for your helpful suggestions about the article on locus of control. I had worked hard to improve this paper, but my vice is probably that I can make the style of some of the psychology articles too academic, so it is good to have some such as you who can guide me there. This looks like a good-sized task, wanna split it with me? Herostratus 03:26, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for getting involved here, I appreciate it...We (me included!) need some cooler heads here. cheers. DPetersontalk 20:53, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
Congratulations! Well, I don't know, maybe you should spend some time at the beach or whatever instead of at the computer.... Herostratus 13:27, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
this dispute is really raging and could use a cool head and administrative action. I filed a request, but don't know if this was the right step or place. Your advice and intervetion could only be helpful. [[1]] Thanks. RalphLendertalk 17:39, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
I am not going to be able to get heavily involved. I can proofread some, but I won't be able to do any mediation at this time. --DanielCD 01:11, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
Just a comment or two now would be very helpful. I cannot leave a message at Herostratus talk page, it's closed because of vandalism. Well, now the group has filed an RfC on me and you might want to look at it and comment, if you feel so inclined...Supporting it is Voice of Britain and a related party! The RfC is at: [[2]] regards. [edit] Bourke

You have shown an interest in the Bourke engine in the past. This engine's page is presently undergoing peer review, it would be appreciated if you would review this page and give any comments or suggestions you may have. Bourke review page. Thank you very much for your time and help.Sno2 16:30, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

It's out of my area of expertise, but I'd be glad to look at it to see if there's anything I can offer. --DanielCD 15:46, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Daniel, just wondered where you obtained the crinoids picture from Arkansas. I have found several over the years and would like to know. W. Fowler

[edit] Mimicry

Need a little help here - I want to do a fairly uncontroversial move from mimic, but the page can't be moved over. Can you help me out? (The disambiguation page can just be moved to mimic (disambiguation), see Talk:Mimic. Richard001 10:02, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

Hey again Daniel, would you be able to do the same with herbivore to herbivory (a technicality with the redirect, there is a single previous edit) - again it hasn't been discussed much for slow traffic, but I don't think it's very controversial either - it's an important ecological interaction between both the plant and the herbivore (like mimicry, predation etc), so the article on herbivory should really come first, with other articles budding off if needed. Herbivore can just be a redirect until we have sufficient ecolist person-power to write a new article for it. Richard001 04:44, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
Move made. LMK how it goes. --DanielCD 13:13, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] DANIEL CD

Hi Dan!

Hi - ref Loch Ness, I am not an admin and anything I [put in on Nessie is immediately edited out by others. Can you edit in something for me and make it stick?

I have a name page in Wikipedia -- Jon-Erik Beckjord

and it is not mentioned that I also do Loch Ness Research. 6 expeditions.

I took a 16mm film of Nessie in 1983 and it was shown on ITV and in 1987, my assistant took my 35mm camera and took 8 photos of a 48 ft long creature.

My film mis similar to that of GORDON HOLMES.

Can you mention this and also list my website?

http://www.beckjord.com/nessie

thanks.

[edit] Can you help me become an administrator please

Hi you are my Wikipedia role model.

Can you please tell me how to become a Wikipedia administrator.

Regards

User:jameswheelerprofessional12

I've not been really active lately because of school. I can help you though if you have questions. --DanielCD 13:22, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Can you have a little word?

Hi, long time no see! I know you are busy, but I wonder if you could have a little word with this new editor User talk:Fullertonart. He has hit the ground running and is getting further out of line by the minute, but I think his real problem is that he doesn't understand Wikipedia well enough yet. I have honestly tried my best to no effect...and I was scratching my head to think of a Psych orientated Admin who might be able to be gentle enough to get through to him and I thought of you. --Zeraeph 19:10, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

I'll put them on my watchlist and try to get attuned to what's happening. --DanielCD 19:01, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks!

Thanks for your revert re: Chihuahua the other day. That account is notorious for attracting vandals. I have placed a message on the pertinent administrator webpage asking for sanctions. Once again, thank you.--Lyricmac 21:04, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Edit summaries

Re: [3]: Edit summaries are useful even if the reason for an edit is given on the talk page, because the article history is disconnected from the talk page history, so that it is not immediately apparent that an edit is justified on the talk page, or the talk page might be archived which would require some digging. —Centrxtalk • 03:29, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Not a problem. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. --DanielCD 19:04, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] User:Lovemonkey

I may want your help with Lovemonkey and his quotes at Plotinus. I can't tell looking back what happened to make him this way, but apparently you tried to improve the quote dump that he has now restored. Everyone else who comments says it doesn't belong on Wikipedia in that form. Lovemonkey chooses to ignore this. Dan (talk) 22:57, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Forgot to add that he keeps impugning my motives. Dan (talk) 23:09, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

I realize he can be a bit overbearing. I looked at the article, but I would need to spend more time to really justify any action right away. I don't like the conference thing and so much sourcing from one ref (Armstrong), and the extensive footnotes need to go. I need to read it more carefully though before I can say more. That material can get rather thick and it's been a while since I've read in that area. I'll watch the page and see if I can give it some time over the next few days. --DanielCD (talk) 14:53, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wikibooks Garden Book (you're a contributor!)

Hi DanielCD. While setting up a contributor's page for the Wikibooks gardening manual, your name came up as a top contributor due to the magic of Special:Import (the book is largely based on imported Wikipedia articles). This list (or updated versions of it) will be included in print versions for attribution purposes (since there are of course no "history pages" in print versions).

I'm sending this note to see if (a) you would like your real name used rather than your username, and (b) to make sure you have an account on Wikibooks. If your username is "taken" there and there are no contributions (or if perhaps you just lost your password), please feel free to leave me a note so I can help you fix the problem (I am a b'crat).

We're working on ways to make this attribution work better in the future, so also let me know if you want to be kept up to date on that. Thanks for contributing to the plant, insect, and other articles that have been so helpful in the creation of the garden book!--SB_Johnny | talk 19:44, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
