Thanks for uploading Image:2nd_winter_asiad.PNG. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. [edit] Offensive username

Your username is either intentionally or unintentionally insulting to Christians. I would appreciate it if you changed it by making a request at WP:CHU. Thank you. - Tragic Baboon (banana receptacle) 23:19, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

I'm sorry but I don't see it that way, nor should others misconstrue it as that. My given name is 'Christian' and I don't want to change it. I was also baptized and brought up as a Christian. Clearly, I have no problem with it. I can put an explanation on my talk page about the matter but that's as far as I would go (unless one could kindly point out which Wikipedia guideline/rule I had violated, or had not conformed to). Although to be honest I don't really see the point — most other users won't even take notice of my username until they see the history page or discussion page of an article. Moreover, most of the articles I edit are not, or do not contain, contentious issues for Christians. dirrtychristian 03:13, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
I have commenced a discussion at Wikipedia:Requests for comment/User names#Dirrtychristian (talk • contribs) - Tragic Baboon (banana receptacle) 04:26, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
Something I suggested on the (heavily cluttered) page was perhaps changing your username to just "dirrtychris". Not sure how you feel about it, but it would utterly eliminate any problem with your username.
As for the policy that we're concerned with, have a look at Wikipedia:Username.
Thanks! EVula // talk // // 05:59, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sorry, but the inadvertant reference to Christianity causes this name to be devisive.

[edit] Philippines at the 2007 Asian Winter Games

hello dirtychristian,
i noticed that you changed the ranking of the Philippines for Figure skating from 4 to a an en dash (-). i just want to take note that there is no such ranking in the Asian Games as a dash. also, take note, there were only 3 NOCs which were able to garner medals in the said discipline, that makes each and every medalless NOCs tied to the number 4 rank in figure skating. also, i wanted to take note that you weren't able to use the edit summary box, which makes other editors easily see what you've edited; there weren't any discussion points raised on the article's talk page either. i reverted your edit back to ranking number 4 for the Philippines in Figure skating. for any questions, please feel free to contact me on my talk page. thanks and happy editing. --RebSkii 19:35, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Legislative districts of Davao del Norte

Hi, oh thanks, it's great here in Wikipedia that we can check on each other's work. Thanks, for the information about San Isidro, Davao del Norte. It should belong to the 1st district. You could have just transferred it though. For the population normally I just add the population of the barangays that compose the new municipality from the data available from the NSO website. If you want I'll just do it.

For Maguindanao and Surigao del Norte, this COMELEC Resolution 7813 amends COMELEC Resolution 7801 and states both Maguindanao and Surigao del Norte still have 2 districts each, despite provinces being carved out from them. I don't know now which municipalities are in either districts. For Shariff Kabunsuan it's a lone district. I can give you a rough map of Shariff Kabunsuan province if you need one, however I guess it has to be updated with the creation of Northern Kabuntalan, we still don't even have a map for Datu Blah T. Sinsuat.

Hope I was of help. Ü Scorpion prinz 07:13, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

UPDATE: I called COMELEC's Education and Information Division and asked which municipalites/cities now comprise Maguindanao and Surigao del Norte's districts.
Surigao del Norte:
  1. 1st District: Burgos, Dapa, Del Carmen, General Luna, Pilar, San Benito, San Isidro, Santa Monica, Socorro
  2. 2nd District: Surigao City, Alegria, Bacuag, Claver, Gigaquit, Mainit, Malimono, Placer, San Francisco, Sison, Tagana-an, Tubod
Maguindanao:
  1. 1st District: Cotabato City
  2. 2nd District: Ampatuan, Buluan, Datu Abdullah Sangki, Datu Anggal Midtimbang, Datu Paglas, Datu Piang, Datu Saudi-Ampatuan, Datu Unsay, Gen. S. K. Pendatun, Guindulungan, Mamasapano, Mangudadatu, Pagagawan, Pagalungan, Paglat, Pandag, Rajah Buayan, Shariff Aguak, South Upi, Sultan sa Barongis, Talayan, Talitay.
Take note though, 1st District of Maguindanao even if its comprised only of Cotabato City is still called Maguindanao's first district since Cotabato City is not yet a highly-urbanized city. Scorpion prinz 09:15, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
I could only make a wise guess. Antipolo City and San Jose del Monte City were created cities after the enactment of the 1991 Local Government Code, they meeting the requirement for their own House representation were thus granted in their charters to have their districts named as such. However, Cotabato City became a city prior to the enactment of the 1991 Local Government Code, its own charter does not grant it to have its own representative. I remember prior to 1995, Baguio City too which is the only unit that comprises the First District of Benguet, didn't have it named as such until the 10th Congress, when Baguio already met the requirement for population. But well those are just guesses, it's how COMELEC refers to them, so it's the official reference. Scorpion prinz 04:05, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
Great, I look forward to the maps. If I only knew how to creat them, I would have helped. With regard to those districts you mentioned I have no idea, but they could be city-council districts? Pasig and Pasay remain to be lone congressional districts if we were to follow COMELEC Resolution 7801. I rather stick to that since it'll serve as the basis for the coming elections. Scorpion prinz 02:38, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
Wow! Thanks! this is perfect. Congrats! Scorpion prinz 05:40, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

--Scorpion prinz 06:28, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

Some districts are actually too small to be seen in a national map. If I can make a few recommendations though, maybe the inset of the province where the district is located will replace the Metro Manila map inset instead. Also, Scarborough Shoal and Sabah takes too much prominence in the map (i think it's better to have them labeled that way in a national map, rather than a legislative representation map). And I think a label like 14th Congress of the Philippines is necessary, since this would be most relevant for the upcoming congress. Scorpion prinz 07:42, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

Hmmm...It's always the courts who have the final say about the application of laws. If the court decide these areas are Taguig's then it is Taguig's, people here will vote for Taguig officials and certainly not for Makati. Scorpion prinz 07:52, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
Let me call the COMELEC for that. I'd let you know. Scorpion prinz 00:44, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
UPDATE: I called the COMELEC, yup you're right. They'll be following the status quo for the 2007 elections, which means Post Proper Northside and Southside are still considered part of Makati because the case is still pending before the Supreme Court. I guess other maps should likewise reflect this until its final resolution, lest we are preempting the decision, these things will take a while since they can appeal again. Scorpion prinz 03:35, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

If you still got the patience for my "OCness" you might want to readjust Manila's borders, refer to the new map of Manila laboriously done by seav. If you were to examine closely, La Loma Cemetery to the north is NOT part of Manila, to the south a small strip of CCP Complex land belongs to Manila, refer to [1]. Ü — scorpion prinz 16:22, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

No one's in a hurry. Ü — scorpion prinz 00:51, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
I just came across this, I guess there has to be another readjustment, Republic Act No. 9371, which provides for 2 legislative districts for Cagayan de Oro City has been passed, I haven't seen the full text of it yet. But anyway the COMELEC has already issued Resolution No. 7837 to effect the changes. What confuses me though is this [2] similarly this [3]. — scorpion prinz 01:47, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
Oh wow, great, I'm also doing a Philippine map divided into municipalities. Pasay and Pasig remain to be lone districts, Marikina and Taguig are divided into two. If you need any reference for Davao City's barangays, I created Districts of Davao City arranged according to districts, divided further into barangays. --Scorpion prinz (Talk | contribs) 11:07, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
It will be a heachache to come up with map showing political affiliations in the House, come organization time, they will change parties so they can have juicy committee positions and to guarantee that they'd have their pork barrel. --Scorpion prinz (Talk | contribs) 13:23, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:12th sea games.png

Thanks for uploading Image:12th sea games.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.Betacommand (talkcontribsBot) 06:02, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:12th sea games.png

Thanks for uploading Image:12th sea games.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.

If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL.

If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 17:56, 12 August 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. OsamaK 17:56, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Filipino elections and maps

Dear Christian, I just came across your beautiful map of Filipino election districts. It's a pity I didn't find it BEFORE I spent several days assembling one of my own, but I'm pleased that your data largely agree with mine. Can I ask:

  • was this map based on an official map which you obtained from COMELEC or some other government agency, or did you assemble it yourself using lists of districts?
  • do you have election statistics for the House of Representatives, or know where I could get them from? No-one ever seems to publish them. (I'm in Australia).

Thanks Intelligent Mr Toad (talk) 07:19, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

I have emailed COMELEC several times but they never answer. It's sad that the Philippines is the only democratic country in the world for which it is impossible to obtain election statistics. Intelligent Mr Toad (talk) 03:37, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

Here are my finished maps. Your comments welcome. Intelligent Mr Toad (talk) 04:06, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. I have now had a response from COMELEC saying they will try to find the figures for me. We will see. Intelligent Mr Toad (talk) 12:38, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Iraq flag

Please do not replace calls to {{flagicon}} with inline image syntax. You can get the 2004-2008 flag by using {{flagicon|Iraq|2004}} (or IRQ). Thanks — Andrwsc (talk · contribs) 00:05, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Base map

Hi, I remember you saying long ago that you got a base map by taking screen captures from Google Maps... could you send me this map, if possible? My email address is mpgonzalez@gmail.com, or you could just upload it to Wikipedia. I was going to make my own map by doing the same thing with Google Maps but now it has roads and city labels. :/ TheCoffee (talk) 02:22, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:3rd seap games.png

Thanks for uploading Image:3rd seap games.png. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --21:34, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
