[edit] Michelle Kelly
The reason I created the Michelle Kelly article as Michelle Kelly (skeleton) was the article had been deleted twice previously. I did not want a third time having an article of that same name being deleted again. Chris 13:56, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion
Regarding the article Ecancermedicalscience, which you tagged for speedy deletion with the reason "It is an article about a club or group that does not assert the importance or significance of the subject", I wanted you to know that I have removed the speedy deletion tag. This article does not qualify for speedy deletion because it is not an article about a club or group, it is about a journal. If you still want the article to be deleted, please use the WP:AFD process. Thanks! Stifle (talk) 18:30, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks for the advice
Hi. Thanks for the advice you dropped on the talk page for the article on bedrocan. I did sign it like you said, but that did not stop MR Mike Rosoft from deleting the article just seconds after I had compelted it. I'm thanking you for your patience also; it seems Mike was fresh out - he deleted four items inside one minute - the bedrocan and talk:bedrocan included. May I ask was it you who tagged the item Bedrocan as SPAm? M Rosoft told me that he was complying with a request for immeadiate deletion, and that he did that becuase it consisted of nothing but product marketing. About marketing: why is it there is a wiki page on the Mars Bar: surely that too is marketing? all the best] Barentsz 22:26, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Proposed deletion of Ecancermedicalscience
Hi Cobaltbluetony -- I've removed the prod tag on Ecancermedicalscience because a merge without deletion, ie retaining the redirect, seems the best move in this case. I agree with the merge proposal. Regards, Espresso Addict 08:30, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Reply to this
Two points:
First, I did not write the comment to which you replied on my User_talk page; as the signature indicates, it was written by User:TehFrankles. I will, however, reply to your comment about substitution: you are correct that substitution of welcome templates is the consensus; my point was that the welcome template has moved well past the useful into the merely terrifying. Because I happened to be sitting next to User:TehFrankles in meatspace at the time, I simply removed the unneeded welcome template, so that, when he looked for my promised message about the popups script, he would find it more easily; while this was a technical violation of the community consensus on editing others' User_talk comments, I believe it was permissable, because it both concording with Frank's wishes, and effected only a template, which does not (imho) have the same intellectual sovereignty as an actual user comment.
Second, I used pre tags rather than nowiki tags quite intentionally; I was demonstrating code as code, not as a name. While nowiki would be correct if I were referring to {{subst:popups}} by name, I was referring to it as code to be inserted into Frank's theme, and so used pre tags. (This is loosely concordant with Wikipedia:How_to_edit_a_page; properly code tags would have been used as well, but I deemed them unneeded contextually, since they are only semantic, and it was a User_talk page.)
Finally, I'd like to say that I'm really, really not trying to engage in a flamewar here, just responding to a cascade misunderstanding (largely rooted in meatspace/wikispace information asymetry). Cain 21:52, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Built to Serve
Thank you for replying to me concerning the qualifications of a published work. After reading the article, it's still very confusing for this type of work. The guidelines seem to be slanted towards fictional work, not the business genre that this book resides in. Perhaps time will merit it deemable of an article. Most importantly, however, thank you for taking the time to point me in the right direction and being helpful. So many Wikipedians share an arrogance and self-rightousness that you do not. Hi there: Just wanted to say that I didn't mean to disrespect your choice of the speedy tag -- I nearly deleted it -- but just had a feeling that this author was the type that would go into a long drawn-out process of multiple recreation, etc. This way, it takes a few days but we get an answer that will allow us to delete the damn thing instantly once it fails AfD. And who knows, it might pass! Personally I think it's running up against WP:NOT#SOAPBOX but ... we'll see what AfD brings. [edit] Thank you for the welcome
Hello Tony, and thank you for the welcome. Unfortunately I cannot delete articles, so I asked a friendly sysop to do that instead. I hope that's OK. Interesting wiki 15:09, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the help. As I tried to explain to RHaworth, the whole article is derived from, and still is, a blatant violation of copyright, which in turn will always make it an unsalvageable violation of copyright. I really think the article and its history should be deleted so we can start again. Interesting wiki 15:21, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
- I was looking at Wikipedia:Copyright problems, which says that copyright violations, where all revisions have copyright problems, get deleted. I'm now not sure whether to add the db-copyvio template, or to write a new article at Talk:PAGENAME/Temp, or to make an edit which removes all the content, or to wait for RHaworth's opinion, or whether Wikipedia bothers about articles derived from copyrighted text at all. What is your opinion of the best way forward? Interesting wiki 15:44, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the help. I was hoping a friendly sysop could just deal with it quickly and without much trouble - it's an obvious candidate for deletion. I'll be working on a rewrite with at least as much info as was there before. Interesting wiki 16:30, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Nokia 6133
Hey, if you don't mind 'mentoring' me a bit, I've got a question. I've got a Nokia 6133, and can add to and correct the current information. The deal on the phone is that it is the T-Mobile variant of the 6131, and for some reason T-Mobile crippled it, disabling things like the ability to allow useful apps like gmail and the Opera browser net access. Currently it is believed that the only way to fix this is to reflash the phone, but I found that by using a downloadable hack called NSS I was able to fix it. I think maybe it isn't even necessary to change the product code (to turn it into a 6131) but just forcing a factory reset might do it.
As for 'verifiable', all I can say is it Worked For Me. I first changed the product code, so I can't say if that is essential or not. But I think everyone who gets one of these things from T-Mobile (good company, Really Bad Decision, as even the T-Mobile techs seem to tacitly agree) would like to be able to uncripple it without having to pay $35 and ship it off to iunlock.com when all you need is a USB cable for it (useful in itself) and NSS.
Questions:
1) Does this info belong in Wikipedia?
2) 'Crippling' is how what T-Mobile did with the phone is commonly described on e.g. howardforums, but perhaps it would not be neutral enough and I should just stick with 'disabled'?
If you think it belongs, I'll write it up. Feel free to provide any guidance-in-advance you care to.
Thanks,
Jim —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cashmundy (talk • contribs) 21:55, November 19, 2007

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Now you know media, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Now you know media is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

[edit] Speedy deletion?
Hi Cobaltbluetony, you marked the article about the EIS for speedy deletion. However, I fail to see why. From my point of view it is not blatant advertising. There was a missing link to this studio on the main Electronic Arts page (almost all of the other studio´s are linked as well and have similar articles), and on one of the tv channels here in Madrid (ESMadrid) they are showing a ´documentary´ about this studio. I live in Madrid and would like to know more about this studio (and other people as well I think). So I hoped to kick off an encyclopedic piece of information about this studio, and hope that it might be expanded by other people in the future.
In the meantime I have added a citation and made some changes so it would be much appreciated if you could remove the ´speedy deletion´-tag.
Thanks! - (Insomnioso (talk) 00:58, 7 December 2007 (UTC))
[edit] Revolver (band)
Hi there, I created a page for the band Revolver, but it has been speedily deleted, and I can't understand why. I saw the list of bands listed on the Hut Records page, some of whom never sold any records whatsoever, and yet Revolver released 5 singles on the Virgin subsidiary Hut records, two of which were UK independent chart number ones, and also an album on Virgin in 1993. The band also toured America twice, where their album was released, along with another compilation CD of early singles, which got lots of college radio play there. The singer of the band Revolver went on to play bass guitar for the very successful band Death In Vegas - so surely his links to them would merit an inclusion for Revolver in Wiki? It seems very strange that there are many bands on here with pages that were less successful that Revolver - so why was their page speedily deleted? [edit] Park railway station
Although it is still under debate, the naming conventions for UK stations states that stations which only serve(d) the railways should be named [...] railway station. Railway does not start with a capital letter at the beginning in the English language, unless at the start of a sentence anyway so I don't understand why you think an exception should me made for a relatively insignificant station. └and-rew┘┌talk┐ 09:55, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- Park railway station was a railway station on the Huddersfield Line from Manchester Victoria station, the name of the railway station was "Park" as it lies next to Philips Park one of the United Kingdom, and the world's oldest municipal parks. The name of the station was Park and on wikipedia we do not have the power to start renaming old stations because the name is considered to be too ambiguous. location of the staion. └and-rew┘┌talk┐ 16:47, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- Also the debate is over the naming of stations within the UK on the talk page as to what is acceptable names e.g. "[...] railway station" or just "[...] station" for stations with multiple forms of transit. Calling the station article "Park Railway Station" is not acceptable as there is no rationale why "Railway" or "Station" should begin with a capital letter. └and-rew┘┌talk┐ 17:05, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

- Nothing wrong with my spam filter. I just sent a test message to myself and it worked fine, appearing immediately. No clue what happened. - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 13:55, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Too speedy on the draw
I'm learning about how to use speedy-delete tags. One thing I learned recently is that if someone has just created a page in the last few minutes and the page is empty or very short, one should really give them time (e.g. a few minutes, maybe half an hour or whatever) to finish writing their stub before marking the page with db-empty or db-nocontext and stuff like that. Of course, db-attack, db-copyvio and some others can be quite appropriate even if the page is only a minute old. Anyway, I noticed this page: Superman X where you marked it for speedy-delete as db-empty one minute after it was created. I'm pretty sure I had also marked an earlier version of the same page with db-empty, which I think got deleted and the author had to re-create it. So I made the same mistake as you. We should have given time, at least a few minutes! to see what the article was going to be about before speedying it. One place I learned about this was on some recent RfA's where at least one candidate was criticized for doing the same thing. Also, I got an angry response from the creator of a new page, which also helped me learn. If the page is relatively harmless e.g. just an empty page, there's no reason not to let it sit around for a bit. More recently, when I do new page patrolling I tend to start lower down, e.g. at pages half an hour old or even a couple of days old, to catch ones that are still unpatrolled after that time. --Coppertwig (talk) 20:11, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
