The Cinema in Georgia has been noted for its cinematography in Europe. Its reputation has been built by known cinema directors and choreographers such as Nikoloz Shengelaia, Mikheil Chiaureli, Otar Ioseliani, Siko Dolidze, Kote Mikaberidze, Tengiz Abuladze, Revaz Chkheidze, Alexander Rekhviashvili, Eldar and Giorgi Shengelaia, Rezo Esadze, Merab Kokochashvili, Nana Mchedlidze, Lana Gogoberidze, Nana Jorjadze, Mikheil Kobakhidze, Goderdzi Chokheli, Temur Babluani and others.
One of the most acclaimed Italian film directors Federico Fellini was one of the admirers of the Georgian film: "Georgian film is a strange phenomenon, special, philosophically light, sophisticated and at the same time childishly pure and innocent. There is everything that can make me cry and I ought to say that it (my crying) is not an easy thing".
