The 1935 Masters Tournament was contested from April 4 to April 8 at Augusta National Golf Club. It was the 2nd Masters Tournament. The golf course nines were reversed for this tournament. Gene Sarazen holed an albatross (235 yards, 4 wood) at the par 5, 15th hole to tie Craig Wood and force a 36-hole playoff. This shot is referred to as the "shot heard 'round the world". Sarazen won the playoff 71-73=144 to 75-74=149. The purse was $5,000.
